My ibs has been very severe to the point I had to spend a night in hospital earlier this year. I now take a pro biotic which I was recommended and it has reduced my symptoms enormously as has looking at and changing my diet.

What a good timed question I have an ibs flare up in my 5 th week... Am hardly able to leave the house ... Am having diahorrea between 2-8 times a day... Despite taking two meds for ibs . Have in last week gone gluten wheat and lactose free... And also added a pro biotic each morning...Waiting to see if that helps... Also gp has started tests to see if it's something else.

But I am having loads of stress at home ATM plus just got all clear from breast cancer scare..but my ibs only started after my fibro

hiya i have severe i.b.s and lately its been the worst ever ever.i keep going back to the doctor and ive changed my diet and dont rarely eat wheat, gluten etc.

my doc has told me only white bread or white pitta breads, and eat cucumber, salad, lots sweet peppers and green tea which i have lots of off.no fatty foods.

but still im badly constipated and it keeps me awake in enormous pain with bloating and growling some nights...

now i have marmite on toast for brekkie,a glass of orange juice.

and no rubbish.

stress makes this so much worse im sick of having a doc look at my bum bum...

im on medication but most stuff doesnt work..

so sympathise with you all xx

I've had IBS for many years and can now control the symptoms by taking Probiotic Acidophilus and Docusate Sodium.

I try not to eat too much bread or pastry and am now almost free of the cramps.

The meds we are on cause me terrible constipation but my GP has given me Docusate Sodium which can be bought over the counter known as Ducloease. It is not a laxative but it keeps the stools soft so that it's easier to go.....

Please try it as I know that it works for me.

Soft hugs

my IBS went away when we (my wife also got it -ibs) quit all wheat made food. Gluten free diet seems to work for us we feel much better now. low carbs diet and wheat free seems to be the best choice but difficult to sustain for us :)

all the best for you
