I do,sometimes if I am having a "good" day pain wise feel that I can take on the world! My mind has other ideas though!

My hubby says it's like I have narcolepsy,I have fallen asleep whilst mid conversation :(

So saying that when the pain is unbearable it either keeps me awake at night which makes things worse the next day or the nausea that goes with it exhausts me,.

In all honesty I guess it's swings and roundabouts. Good luck :)

Hi Moss yes i do ,can,t tell whether i prefer pain to fatigue, mad i know, but no i am not usually tired with pain ,be quite honest pain keeps me alert,i feel more fatigued around 5 o clock for some reason, that's when i feel poorly too.In the day it's like nursing your body with no let up,but some days i feel dead beat ,my sister will ask if i okay she will say i look very haggered in my face, being nice though i might add,so the answer is yes,i think because of the pain endured for a length of time the body has to react with tiredness don't you think.I'm not to bad today ,i find just typing for a while takes it out on my body,i get very tired. I've often been asked this question by my GP/Specialists and have answered that I couldn't choose between them!!

While the pain is awful the exhaustion is frustrating beyond belief - if the two could always appear at the same time it wouldn't be so bad but it seems to be that I get one or the other... The pain does make me tired, yes, but that overwhelming (as you say falling asleep in the middle of a conversation) exhaustion is a different matter all together.

If I could use it to sleep through the pain then make use of the time when I don't have quite so much pain to do things it would be wonderful. ;-) Of course, it's impossible to tell these days if the medication I take (high doses of Fentanyl in patch form, tramadol, gaberpentin & liquid morphine along with zopliclone & anti-bitotics to prevent a recurring & potentially life-threatening infection in my bad arm) is the reason I am so tired/sleepy but I don't think so. That produces what I would call "normal sleepiness" but the exhaustion is overwhelming and not at all normal.

I can feel when I'm going into what I call "a sleep mode" & can tell when I'm coming out of one - they last from a few hours to many days. I think the record for me to be almost completely asleep for more than 90% of my time is a week, I feel like i've hibernated at times!!!. You feel as if life just passes by during these times but then when you're wide awake and in loads of pain almost beg to just go to sleep. I'm in the latter stage right now, cannot sleep at all - at night or during day as pain is too much. Can't win can we? LOL!!!

xx

Give me the pain any day i can deal with pain but that absolute exhaustion no thanks, I have fallen asleep while cooking on the stairs twice and once while out at dinner with Pauls family. I can cope with the pain with medications or tens or relaxation but you can't do anything about exhaustion. I have lived with Pain for most of my life and have learnt to deal with it but i feel like my life is being slept away.

m.... interesting i can not cope with the pain either. on a day to day basis how long do people find they sleep for

I agree with Rachie, I would sooner have my worst pains any day than have the totally exhaustive fatigue. I can fight the pain, but the exhaustion is all consuming.

Being exhausted with Fibromyalgia and CFS/ME (I have both/all) is completely different to the days before when I was well. Back in those days there was always more energy to pull out of the bag, however with Fibromyalgia there is little energy to start with and the bag has a big hole in it!! There is nothing to pull out of it because it was empty at the start!

I'd sooner have pain! Pain can be treated and controlled to some extent. :)

Hi. Im like Rachie, that I seem to have a "fatigue time". Its around 10/11am. So Im only up for 2or3 hours before i get the overwhelming need to sleep. I know i sleep all night but i still wake up feeling like Ive not slept at all. I cant concentrate or make decisions while Im like that (shoudlnt be allowed out on my own,loI ). I dont have a great deal of pain, as such, unless I overdo it, which doesnt take much really. I get more stiffness than pain. Ive often wondered if Im more M.E. than Fibro. My biggest problems are fatigue and memory issues, which are very "inconvenient".
