I took an annual leave day today because the fatigue is overwhelming but have been called into work for a late shift.

my employer has implemented the reasonable adjustments but the local managers are not so good.

My boss is supposed to give me a day off after four days in ( i work shifts -but not night shifts) but she gave me a run of 7 days before just 1 day off, basically i will work 10 days with 1 day off :-O and i know i will be off sick after that ,....im feeling crap today and was going to stay in my bed/ sofa all day...but no! ive been called in ( they can do that) so now im a bit emotional. Im sure she thinks im faking it,even though she has the diagnosis from the consultant rheumy ( i have HMS/EDS too ) she didnt even bother to read the DWP print out i gave her about HMS/EDS and fibro...its still in her pigeon hole gathering dust.

usually i take great care to slap on the make up to cover up the mahooosive dark circles under my eyes and blotchy skin, so i always look okay- just a little tired. However, today I will go in without the make up....so she can ACTUALLY SEE i how really feel....she is a nasty piece of work, morbidly obese, hates slim people and is always spiteful about others...she even told me i was getting fat, and could do with losing some weight :-O ( she is right, im now up to 85KG) i said getting fatter is the least of my worries. so today, she will see me...i mean ..REALLY see me...but i doubt she will even give me a cursory glance...ah well...i can see a few sick days looming....if i was allowed to pace myself she would get regular service. Very short sighted of her.

What sort of work do you do. You should join a union they will back all your grievances. She sounds like a really nasty cow.

I told my employers i wanted to do 16 hours instead of 20 and they agreed straight away letting me do 2 days and a day off then 2days on and they get more out of me and i feel a bit better in myself. Go give it a go make your self feel a bit better

Im a civil servant... i want to go part time but i cant afford it at the moment..... i am supposed to do 4 days in and then a day off then 4 days in and 2 days off,so on and so forth....but she just bl**dy changed it...also im not supposed to do early shifts (7am starts) but she keep scheduling them..i dont turn up till 9am though :-D I am a member of the union but a grievance just is not worth the stress...believe me....its more trouble than its worth.

I have to say, she was okay in the beginning and i have hardly had any sick leave at all this year, but something has changed in her, im sure she thinks im faking and i feel like a fraud because im still going in to work regardless.

That's the problem now no ones job is safe, I work for the NHS

Inside a prison and we all have problems, if prison staff go off with

Stress now they get the sack, if I have time off with fibro I think they

Will make me medical retirement.

My manager is very good I'm not supposed to do two days together

And mostly I don't the odd occasion but not often.

I don't know how you cope work 7 days on, I know I would not be

Able to what kind of life is the old bat giving you not getting the best

From staff by being a bitch, you think don't you that is not going

To get to you but after a while it does just odd comments like the

One about your weight, I have been there it just makes you more stressed

Cant you have her for being a bully if you work as a civil servant they

Must have an anti bully policy

As the medical conditions that you have are noted, and your employer has agreed to reasonable adjustments per the Equality Act, you are well within your rights to refuse to work the times that they ask you to work if they breach the agreed terms. My boss is a nasty cow on occasions, but even she hasn't stooped this low, yet. The personal insults themselves are grounds for a serious formal complaint, but the blatant ignorance of your medical requirements is beyond the pale.

Do you have a union rep who you can trust? If so, demand a meeting with your boss, and have the union rep present. If she refuses, go above her (which may be a better option anyway, given her attitude), and take with you a diary showing all of the times that she has breeched the agreement on your workload. Ask to be referred to Occy Health (or self-refer, if you can), and discuss it all with them, so that they're on your side, and to send a letter to go in your personal file listing the issues.

Sometimes, you don't have to actually file a grievance to put the wind up these bullies; just get yourself plenty of backup and don't be afraid to stand up for what you know is right. Remember, she doesn't own the company, and you might be surprised at how many of her senior managers can't stand the evil-minded bag!

Good luck! xx

guess what?? she is the union rep and the health and safety officer :-/

there is no chance! im still at work now... and having more files piled on my desk, its crap and im seriously P***ed off!! Im very experienced here and have more operational and legal knowledge than my superiors so i am frequently put upon. There are so many new instructions and changes to the legislation that i totally understand. so i am responsible for training the other memebrs of staff...I have now been told that the senior work will be diverted to my grade as they have too much managment stuff to do. i wont have a pay rise, just more responsibility and more work.

That is a joke! And not even a funny one! I suppose the first port of call is to contact the union directly - you're a union member, so they'd have to assign you someone from the 'regional team' to support you, as she is the one you're having issues with. Please tell me that she elected herself to these roles and wasn't voted in, though? I'll lose all faith in humanity if people actually elected her as their union rep! A manager should never be a union rep for their team, anyway - it goes against everything that unions stand for!

If she was initially ok about it, maybe something has gone belly up in her own life, and she's taking it out on you? Or maybe she needs educating, and - as she clearly won't read what you send her - it might be that you have to request a one-to-one with her before getting the union involved, take your own notes, and explain to her exactly what your medical conditions mean to you, and how they may affect your ability to do the job if the pre-arranged adjustments are not followed. Of course, this may not be the best thing for you - I don't know your boss - but it's another option, maybe.

Gentle hugs xx

can this lady really treat you way .isnt she a bully/it sounds like it too me.

id like to see her live with this illness for one day and then she would no.

i cant stand people who think they are better than you and have the nerve to make nasty comments.

it seems like she doesnt have any happiness in her own life so she comes to work to let everyone else feel the same.

stand up for yourself and complain .dont take this off her.

do you have a union even?you must be able to speak to someone?x

This sort of bullying is miserable & I'm so sorry to hear you are experiencing it, especially at the hands of someone who should know better!! Try keep a diary of events/things she says etc as you never know when it just may come in handy. I'm sure it's not the same but I had a bullying experience years ago (in the NHS) when a sister on the ward took an instant dislike... I was training at the times and some days felt thoroughly miserable and nearly left because of it. Eventually she forgot to be so clever and began to opening victimize me. One of the doctors noticed and complained on my behalf. All it took was my diary of events and for me to stand there and agree that it was all true and my problem was "removed" to another ward. I never worked with her again although used to see her around and about. It really is an awful experience to suffer but keep strong & smile because that REALLY pii$$es the bullies off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gentle hugs xx
