Hi welcome to the group, I think tonic water is good for restless legs because it contains quinine but never tried it myself. Take care Sue xx

Hello

It was me that said tonic water, it helps with restless legs it has

Some thing called quinine in it quinine is a drug that a doctor

Could prescribe for restless legs or cramp in your legs

I don't know in what amount quinine is in the tonic water

It's a bit bitter to drink but it's not bad if you drink it cold

I expect you have had gin and tonic, well it's the same tonic

It's not expensive to buy, that's the tonic not the gin yuck don't

Like gin.

I did use this for a while before I went on cymbalta, and it did

Help, I don't expect that there is a lot of quinine in the water

If there was then I should think the shops would be allowed

To sale it, but who knows, and you would not drink it hot

Just a glass a day and see it may help or not.

Tonic water contains Quinine which is thought to help restless legs and associated pain. It is also supposed to help cramps. If you buy tonic water don't buy the low calorie version as this doesn't contain enough ingredients to help you.

thanks liberty will give it ago xx

Bitter Lemon also contains quinine, so is also good. I drink both and it helps me immesely.

Bitter lemon did not know that I don't mind that drink

If it is cold, I suppose it's like any thing it might build

Up in your body before it works.

I know tonic water helped me cant say it took it all away

Be I think it was better

Tonic water always makes me feel better, too - tho' looking at the ingredients, the amount of quinine contained is very, very small.

I tried it on its own, and that made me feel better too, altho' I had always assumed it was the double gin I mixed with it that was doing me good.

Perhaps it's a 'placebo' effect, in which case don't knock it - if it makes you feel better, then bring it on!

i am going give it ago but with out the gin lol thanks ladymoth x

It was my doctor who suggested it, she said that the Quinine tablets were pretty high dose, and could have nasty side effects, including death.

death!! thats a big side effect, it just shows all these tablets we take sureare not always good for us!! thanks midori xx

thanks for all yr replys, i am having a few bad weeks with fibro so been in bed alot, i did no quinine tablets were that bad for you :-( i have been on quinine sulphate tablets 200mg 1 at night for years as i was getting cramps in the night very bad, vivien: i dont like gin thinking about it i dont drink at all xx

Don't panic too much, its just that death is listed as one of the possible side effects, it doesn't suit everyone, but it does suit some folk, depending on how bad the cramps are. I can control mine with Tonic water and Bitter lemon.

Didn't mean to scare anyone.

Zopiclone sleep tables 3 out of 7 days. I keep the sleepers for when really bad as they might stop working if take too often

Gentle hugs
