I am flying to USA on Friday to see my sister and have read all up all I can to try and help me.
If anyone out there has any helpful tips would really appreciate it as I am sure a 9 hours fight will be very difficult to cope with

Don't touch alcohol. Drink plenty of water. Set your watch to the time it will be when you arrive at your destination. If you can get up and stretch and walk around as often as possible. Try this tai chi exercise. Starting at the toes individually circle them round one way five times, then the other way, then the ankles, then the knees, legs, hips stomach, fingers, wrists you get the drift. It helps with your circulation, and can be done sitting down. It's very gentle. Let me know if it helped.
I wrote this article on Travelling with Fibro a few years ago:

Hope it helps. Enjoy the trip!
I am travelling for the second time to Australia in four weeks. I went for five weeks two years ago this time I'm going for two months! last time I was virtually pain free and able to go for long walks ,I use a rollator and can still only do very short distance at home and have body wide pain every day.I'm hoping the heat and climate change will do the same fr me this time x
you can get wheelchair assistance at all airports, just contact your aiirline if you havent done so already.
I found this invaluable! They collected me from check in and got me everywhere I needed to go all I had to do was sit back and relax.
If you wont need a wheelchair you can still get assistance.
ask for an aisle seat...even though the seats are further apart on long haul flights this gives yu room to move around and when letting people out of there seats you can swivel round rather than having to stand up
I slept most of the way! Which was a novelty in itself since I barely sleep at home! I just asked the hostesses to wake me for meals if I was sleeping
I was still very stiff on arrival but took a few minutes to walk round the outside of the airport after loosened this up a bit.
lastly make sure you have enough medication in your carry on for the flight and enjoy your trip
wheelchair assistance is invaluable! airports are tiring enough when in good health. can't add anything to the above except take a hand towel with you. Why? because
it folds up as a small pillow
rolled up it can be used a neck/arm/leg/back support [roll lengthways for back] **
put over eyes it blocks out the light.
have a wonderful trip, sandra.
** use larger towel at home and a pair of ladies tights with the feet out each end to tie round your middle will help give support in bed.
Hi all.
Thank you so much for your tips. I will definitely try the stretching and will get up as often as possible. I have already paid a bit extra for an aisle seat near the loo's!
I am able to manage the getting around ....just use a stick when hips are painful.
Once agin thanks (and have a great time in Aus tiggerfan)
