Does anyone else find that they end up slurring their words a little, especially when the foggy head is at its worst? I'm sure my colleagues think I've had a few today!

Take more water with it?
yes, yes, yes!!! Especially if I've also forgotten to take my thyroid meds! My family and close friends have learned to spot it - even my young nephew, who once said "Either you've not taken your meds, Auntie, or you just lost your last marble!" Cheeky little s*d! I fnd it really strange, because my thoughts don't seem muddled to me - it's like they get dislocated somewhere between my brain and my mouth. I've decided to let it be known that I am a somewhat eccentric old dear, so that I don't scare the neighbours on a "bad" day. Good luck, love, and do explain to your work colleagues! x
Oh yes! all to often
it's like my brain has shut shop for the day. what is in my head comes out but it's just in the wrong order or i can forget mid sentence what I was going to say sometime.
there is no magic advice I can offer here but if anyone else has found ways to deal with it I too would be interested in hearing them
I'm glad it's not just me! The other day, I was given a problem, sorted it, phoned up the office to tell them the solution ... and spoke the biggest pile of garbled rubbish you've ever heard! In the end, I admitted defeat, and said I'd email them where I could at least check my words were in a logical order before I sent it!
I'd be interested in hearing ideas from others, too, Irene - I'm new to all this! Unfortunately, though, Chrissie, my last marble rolled away years ago - last seen heading down the hard shoulder of the M6!
xx
Oh Sooty that made me laugh out loud, a great tonic lol
I say embrace the madness after all not everybody gets to view the world from this angle lol
and it you don't laugh you cry.
My boyfriend thinks I'm mad (and I have to agree) and that's why he loves me he says he has never met anyone like me (obviously lol) and he could never get bored with me around lol
i say I am quirky and proud to be different.
Ohh all the time - sometimes type rubbish too and have to delete and start again. It is the first sign that I need a BIG REST preferably in bed or at least lieing down in a darkened room; I hate going out alone because I know when it happens I sound drunk - and no one has any time for an old soak.

That goes for me too! It happens daily I would say. The words are quite clear in my head, but they come out not making sense at all, I even confuse myself lol! I find myself standing in the middle of a shop with a blank look (so hubby tells me!) as my mind has completely gone in the blink of a second and when I try to speak, my head's all jumbled. It amazes me how quickly a foggy moment can happen and there is nothing I can do about it. I tend to try to laugh about it because then I don't worry about it.
i get this all the time! although friends tell me i dont sound slurred but in my head i sound it! im also find that lately i get my words muggled up when talking and my spelling when typing is awful!
xx
Yes yes yes to such an extent I dont talk to people much anymore. My daughter was shocked when I finally told her why I had pulled myself away from people. I want to say the word ladder and chicken would come out. Drives me mad. xxxxx
I do have an answer though, YOu need my son! he is amazing at knowing what I want to say and is always finishing my sentences. And when he cant, I will say, babe can you get me the??????????? he will look at me then reel off a thousand words til I get it, I end up describing what I want as I just cant find the word I am looking for lol/ x
Yep not just you, I slur and it's more pronounced on a foggy day. I find myself apologising all day and explaining to people that I haven't been drinking! It's another weird fm thing I guess.xx
Oh my I have just read all thes coments and feel great releif that I am not going mad.
I have problems with words too....the biggest one is if I have to explain something I lose a key word in my sentance....My Daughter is bad because she tries to fill in the word,or she will say whats up with you mother!!! in an exhasperated way and gets cross with me....which does not help at all...
I find it comes on all of a sudden,I have even had to stop driving for now because my legs and spazms are so bad,but before they gave up I was beggining to forget how to get to a town near by.
I used to drive all the way to the highlands from the west country, and was at one time teaching and giving lectures,so I was finding this very weird and hard to understand. My Dr has not told me it was a part of my fibro or CVFS so I am so glad to have stumbled onto this blog today.
I am getting so much from reading all your comments...thankyou all for being able to share as you do.

My goodness I have the same problem too, I will give you an example, I had a friend over the over day, and there was a film on tv, while we were having a chat, and I remarked that the lead actress looked very like someone in a program, I used to watch every day when all the kids were at home," I said do you remember that program, the womans husband was called al, and the kids were real bold most of the time", she thought I was talking about al bundy, and it took her all of five mins for her to suggest Malcolm in the Middle, I would have been sitting there for a few hours before I remember the program,,,,scary!
and what about trying to type as well as you could, why do you recall most words having a shortened ending, ie without the last two letters, and thats what your brain tells you to write and thats after correcting all the other miss-spellings, crazy,,,
