I've been finding that I cannot bear the sensation of the shower on my skin (or scalp for that matter). I've been trying to change the *flow* on the shower head, but it's so painful when it touches my skin.
Anyone else have this? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

i find a bath hard to get in an out of and yes a shower sometimes painful! so loose loose in both cases! but tend to go with shower so it dont hurt my hips as much as getting in an out of bath
I find it's more the temperature of the water in my shower that can be uncomfortable. I get days where I like a hot power shower and other days when my pain is bad, when it has to be a gentle tepid temperature shower. I think it's the when my temperature sensitivity kicks in that I have to get my shower just right.
Might have to go back to the bath Lexie. Thing is, like emadavies, I find it hard to get out of. Hey go - maybe I should just get the OH to give me sponge baths
I'm not sure if its an FM thing but I have altered pain sensations all over. Mainly caused by snow burn sensation and bee stings from my nerves picking up on the shingles pain and incorrectly copying it to the rest of my body. My extra diagnoses of functional disorder explains this in my case. I sometimes cant bear even clothes or bedlinen on my body. Water from a shower or flannel will also hurt me on occasion. I'm led to believe that if we suffer from a chronic pain syndrome or FM for long enough that it is possible for our neuro signals to be corrupted or interrupted thus causing us lack of sensation or hightened sensation. Itt explains why I "forget how to stand up" and fold like a pack of cards. Its not the alcohol honestly!!!
I am trying to re train my nerves, but its hit and miss and I havnt got there yet. Every couple of weeks I have the "cant bear anything" sensations in addition to the bee stings.
I try showering with head away from shower head and only wash hair on days when the sensations are normal. Gradually I am getting less days like it. Strangely for me Warm moving water that I can submerge in is always pain free. Bath is best but yes its hell to get in and out. A neighbour has just been issued a good gadget that pumps up a seat in the bath so she can get in and out freely but they wont give me one as I have a disabled shower (paid for and fitted by myself). Maybe you could enquire about bath raisers if your situation is different.
