We have asked gerisly to take some time to cool off.

Whilst many people do not find swearing a problem, it does offend some people, therefore it is usually considered to be offensive content. Posting offensive content - whatever it is - is not allowed under the Guidelines of this community. The odd not-especially-serious swear word from a genuine member may well be over-looked when taken in the context of both the post and the member's history. But repeatedly posting content that is full of swear words does offend people & is unnecessary, so is not acceptable.

They are there for the health of the community, so we are not always hard-line about them, as discussed above. Genuine members will be given the benefit of doubt and asked to change posts or behaviour that is considered to be a problem, as well as being given warning of any further action taken.

The overall ethos of the Guidelines of respect, honesty and support towards this community, including its members and the Volunteer/Admin team is very important though.

i am by no meens a prude, however, i feel there is no need to use a swear word two or three times a sentence! it may be how she speaks, but you dont have to write it!!

I have to agree with nadine when I am in pain in my house my language is not nice but on here I do think before I write ... If I met gerisly I wouldn't mind her language but if there are rules then I think we should abide by them just so no one is offended... Hope I haven't offended anyone by this post ... And I think those that are offended by anything said on here should say so to the person involved.Not run to Miss.

she seemed a honest and kind person, and i hope she comes back too, my goodness, we are all together with this awful pain etc, supporting each other, bless her, i dont know, all the terrible things in the world and folks moan about a bit of swearing!

Gerisly hasn't gone folks - she's just having a break. We had complaints about the swearing and bad language, so it had to be dealt with. Not everyone is tolerant to this sort of thing, it really upset some people. We are never going to please everyone, which is why we have to have Rules and Guidelines in place to make it fair and acceptable for everyone.

to be honest I think if anyone has a problem with anyone swearing,-it might be more diplomatic to take it up with them not on a post, we re all in pain so why inflict pain of being discussed by others on them, Ill probably get shot down but thats my point of view for what its worth

Thank you for your comments Paradise and Lally.

Unfortunately what you suggest Paradise isn't possible at the moment. We don't have that facility, it is up to Health Unlocked to make that possible. They are making changes to the way their forums can operate, but it takes time to iron out niggles and problems. Until such times all we have to go by is our Rules and Guidelines which we encourage all members to read and refer to.

We also have to take note of how the majority feel and most members are objecting to the use of bad language and are genuinely offended by it. Not all members who read messages and blogs post themselves, however they do report their disapproval which we have to give consideration to. All we are asking is that members moderate their language so as not to offend anyone.

Hopefully we have resolved this issue now and can move on please.
