hi i am new on here, i would like to ask if fibro gets worse as you get older or does it stay the same. :)
Hi and welcome .
I've only had Fibro for around 3 years so I'm not sure if it will get worse as I get older. As far as I know it's not a progressive condition but does have flares .
In the 3 years I've had it I've only had the odd good day , but that's mainly because most of the medications commonly prescribed for it , I can't take so it's been difficult to get it under control.
Hugs
xx
Hi , I've had it over 20 years now and I think It's just age that makes me feel worse . The pain hasn't got any worse but it is very wearing to live with chronic pain . Hopefully the scientists will come up with something soon .
Hello and welcome Juliamaria, lovely to see you here in our lovely forum!
Thank you for your message! In answer to your question, each person with Fibromyalgia tends to be different. Every experience is different. One person may have mild symptoms and they may remain the same, whilst another may see their condition evolve through different symptoms. Another person may have symptoms which go in the passage of time.
There isn't any magic answer to your question I am afraid. The best you can do is to try to control your symptoms as best you can with your lifestyle, your meds and by learning to pace yourself so you don't overdo it and then have your symptoms flare up. If you are managing at the moment, there is nothing to say you won't manage well in the future. I haven't personally seen any info to suggest that Fibro gets worse as you get older. Hope this helps.
Hello Juliemaria, Gentle hugs and welcome to the Fibromite family.
I've had Fibro 38+ years - Am just 50 now. However, until I was hit by a car approximately 13 years ago - and before finally being diagnosed 7 years ago - I had a full-on life - nothing held me back - but these past 10 years I have noticed - as have friends and family - a complete change from me way back then too now - and even my GP 3 years ago before I moved to where I am now - agreed I've worsened with the fibro - and not just to do with my age. it's to do with other factors for me - But as we are all different - you yourself may get by quite well.
Love,
Carol xx

Hello nice to meet you, my fibro has got worse but I don't think

hi everyone. I like diddle was diagnosed in 2010 and I've progressivly (don't know if I've spelt it right) got worse since then. I don't know what the future holds for me. I'm 31 now and me and my gp think that I may of had it for longer and never realised I had. I've had illnesses all my life and it could all be joined up, but not sure. All I can say is with the right meds (still working on that) and learning to adapt to my new life. Mobility and aids and such like, then I know I can face each day whether it be bad or good. All of these things help me to still live my life. I don't go out much because my Fibro has affected me so much that my hubbie cares for me and I use a wheelchair and other things. But I have a lovely family to support me. However long it takes for me to get better, all I can say is that I can face it with the support of this group and my friends and family. Big hugs, god bless xxx
