Hi i just lost my job due to fibro ... I was wondering is there light at the end of the tunnel i loved my job but i have no energy
Hello sadzapple, I'm so sorry to hear of your plight, have a very gentle hug(())
Everyone is different with this illness but it seems that we often have similar symptoms which overlap, and one thing we all have the same is a diagnosis long after the symptoms.
I'm 51 soon and only got my diagnosis about 3-4 years ago, after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. My GP seemed to think that is what started my fibro off, but the more I learn about it, the more I think I've had fibro pretty much all my life.
I have lots of the symptoms people mention here, but thankfully not the constant exhaustion or depression, and am still able bodied. I feel much a fraud here a lot of the time!
I'm sure there are others here who will be able to help you much more than I and soon, there's a light for you, and a steady one too

Thankyou i suffer with constant pelvic pain and have done for a long time resulting in having a full hysterectomy.... for the pain to come back just wish i could get my medication right that i can sleep at night... its nice to talk to other people about it x
Hi sadzapple and welcome.
I found it really difficult to get my head round it in the beginning, mostly because I didn't believe the condition existed and lost my job too. How wrong was I!
My advice is to come here often, ask any question you are looking for an answer to. No question you have will be seen as silly here and loads of people will give you loads of answers.
Use the Blog section to read about everyone else and what's going on and to tell us how you are doing or just let of steam. You will find loads of responses there too.
Read everything you can lay your hands on.
Make sure your GP is up to speed with Fibro and proper treatment. You can print off the pages on the main Fibro Action site (link below). The site is full of really useful stuff
The Benefits and work link you will find there is invaluable, if you will need to claim ESA and/or PIP (DLA)
fibroaction.org/Pages/About...
Make sure you get referred to a good Pain Consultant and from there on to a Pain Management Course, where you will see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Looking forward to seeing lots more of you
happy hugs, kate
Hi, so sorry to hear about your job. What has the doctor who diagnosed you doing about your FM? It can be a confusing time but you are NOT alone
What does your family think of it all?
I have had FM for 14yrs now and at the minute i am off work sick since March, was at the docs yesterday and he has signed me off again but think this is the last time. I need to go and see the work doc just waiting for the appointment coming through.
I am quite new to this site too but everyone is lovely and it helps to know that other people are going through the same as you (although i do wish that none of us was going through this).
Take Care
Jo x
Thankyou kate and jo my partner is supportive and so are the children .. but my mum and dad as they are in there late 50s i get you need to get moving more and i ache all the time ... so i dont tend to say anything to them. i do feel lonerly as i could cry sometimes.... Could i ask you a question but i wet myself alot lately i dont know what is going on...xx
Hi, both my parents are in their late 50's and very supportive although we dont live near each other. They both know how i am feeling when i speak to them on the phone and they can tell that i am in pain by the way thhat i talk. You will be suprised as to how supportive your parents will be - maybe it would be an idea to show them this website and the fibroaction website and then they may get an idea of what you are going through.
i feel alone some days too and just want to sit and cry but then i come on here and realise that i am not alone.
with regards to your question above i would maybe speak to your doc if you havent already done this as not everything is down to FM.
take care
jo xx
Ps it is easy for people to say that we need to get moving more when they are not in pain like we are which is why i maybe suggested you show your parents those websites, hopefully that will help...
i had wrote this but my computer is playing up today!!!!
