Locum Drs refusal to pain relief

Hi all

Thought I'd give you an update to my distressing appt with a Locum Dr at my GP's Surgery who refused me my w pain relief that I usually get. As I told you I was an emotional wreck after this.

On Monday morning I rang & lodged a complaint with the Practice Manager who apologised. She told me she would get one of the Senior Partners/Dooctors to phone me back asap. The Doctor rang me back within a half hour and he also apologised. Although he thought the locum was wrong in refusing me my usual pain relief he went on to say that Fibro is a very complex disease & for GP's they can sometimes find it difficult to prescribe the right meds as some meds cause side effects which then bring on more fibro problems. He printed me off a script for my usual Tramadol & Paracetamol. He said it would be easier for them once I get to see a Consultant at the Pain Clinic.

He has now also put a note on my records on computer that when I come to the Surgery I have to see one of the Senior Doctors.

I am happy & feel a big relief at getting my pain relief back. I just wish my appointment for Pain Clinic would hurry & arrive. I was told at the time it could take a lot of time to get appointment as the waiting list is very long.

Thank you to all who replied to me with your messages of support. I really appreciated it.

Luv & gentle hugs

Jackie

That's brilliant, just the response that was needed! Well done for complaining and getting things changed.

Best of luck with your referral.

Thank you Lindsay, I was determined not to let him away with how he treated me. I felt like a druggie beggin for drugs. Maybe now he'll think twice about forcing his opinions on other people. You need to feel fay ok to want to do yoga, swimming or even walking. I find there are days I can only walk a very short distance & usually have to be leaning on something or someone.

I'd love nothing more than to be able to do these things. As like many there ate days I cant get out of bed & it can be a chore even changing from PJs into clothes.

Now all I need worry about is my appeal with ESA! Grrrrr. Nothing is straight forward for us.

Thanks again

Jackie

Hi hidden

Glad you got your meds and apology. Some (quite a few) Drs don't understand Fibro :( although more people I know are being diagnosed with it). Government and health board need to act quickly to find cause and better treatment. It is without a doubt a strange, horrible incapacitating illness. I never know what next day, no, even next hour will bring!!. I can't get out of bed yet today, I had busy day in work and did end up overdoing things, paying for it today hands burning and pins needles in fingers and toes, elbows and knees burning!! Yuk feeling sorry for myself as in not being "normal" :(:(:(
