I would say yes, however go to an osteopath and not a beauty therepist, as if you go to the beauty therepist you will have more pain..... I go to a Osteopath every week,( except for the last 2 weeks as I have a flare and am to exhausted to get there.,) and it really helps, I wish I could go more often but it is expensive,

Definitely see someone as well trained and experienced as possible, preferably with experience of treating people with Fibro. If whoever you see has not got a lot of experience of people with Fibro, make sure you tell them that a symptom is widespread hyperalgesia, so they will need to be really really gentle with you. Also let them know that it is common with Fibro to react more than usual to anything, including massage, so they may need to limit how much they do in any one session.

Myofascial release is a specialist kind of massage or hands-on therapy carried out by specialist massage therapists, osteopaths and some physiotherapists. It specifically works on myofascial pain, which many people with Fibro suffer with. The evidence for it in the scientific literature isn't huge, but there is a lack of good research into Fibro and myofascial pain IMO.

I used to have a weekly massage when i was in work (I worked at Ewood Park so had Blackburn Rovers football team therapist on hand :-) ) unfortunately the relief from the massage only lasted 2/3 hours then the pain would creep back so in the end I stopped, it wasnt cost effective for the couple of hours relief I got.

totally agree I find it helps me keep moving it very tiring the day you have the treatment but i think it helps loosen me up which makes it easier for movement .can be very useful I`m very lucky i have a fella who is retired and does this and he only charges £15 for a full body massage and works on me for 1hr each time i gt him i try and get him 2times a month .hes very cheap have had others who are not as good and cost alot more so it is best to ask what kind of people they`re used to treating.

I wish I could afford them but sdaly not. I was lucky enough to have some for free at the cancer support place but then the therapist moved away. I did find them very helpful though. If you have aromatherapy massage like I did, don't forget you might react to any oils too, even if they have been safe in the past.
