what's a mobility payment of DLA?
If you have made a successful claim for Disability Living Allowance and you have been awarded DLA for mobility at the highest level for at least 3 years ( think that is still part of the deal the 3 years) then you are entitled to choose a car that will be provided for you, taxed, insured and all the servicing and tyres and repairs done for you in return for the money that you would have been paid for the mobility component of your DLA and in some instances you do have to put down a small payment on the vehicle but there are loads of vehicles that have a zero initial payment. The only thing you do is to put your petrol, oil and water in your car. I hope that helps you. x
Enjoy your new car I collect my new one on Saturday can't wait xx
Good morning! Am sure once you settle and in it there be no stopping you. It is a new lease of life for you. I am awaiting brain mri results, i had a taxi driver hit and run on my vehicle 30/12/11 and had to get my own vehicle which picked up other day (not DLA) i do not want a disability like anyone doesnt!! But everyone said i should of held on a little linger and possibly would of been entitled to one. We shall see, the handbrake is high i cant do it and gears normally would be ok but when handsnot strength its not that easy! So maybe i shud of waited. Ohhh well you enjoy your new shiny car !!! And kp us posted how you settle in xxxxxx huggles
oooh lucky you ,hope you enjoy it ,
U enjoy ur New car, and take care,;) xx
Dear silver52,
congrulations and very well done. we all know how hard it is to get these things approved by dla for us.
oh the smell of a new car! enjoy every moment.
just take your time and maybe someone who is good at reassuring you.
i wonder if its legally ok to slap on a couple of L plates, (of course after you have left the show room hi hi)
others give learners a bit of distance. only for a day or two whilst you get use to it.
you lucky lady <3 xxx :).
Congratulations Silver52. I'm sure it will get you out of you rut. I didn't sit my test until I was 39 so can really compare my life pre car to post car - my whole life opened up once I got my own car. Car is really spelled FREEDOM!

Spot on !! lol xx
have been considering changing to the mobility scheme for a while now, but having increasingly difficult time leaving the house due to panic attacks, I wonder if it is worth is, as may never make it to the show room.
yes, i agree with you the longer it is between the times of going out the harder it gets each time. I am trying to make myself go out everyday now even if it is just to garden gate and back.
