Hi all, for everyone receiving standard mobility rate of PIP are you aware that you can claim half of your car tax off as a disabled driver? I have recently claimed and they have back dated it for the previous 12 month period. It's a refund of £155 so not to be missed. Go to the DVLA gov site and it explains all, it was just a quick letter and all sorted.
Good luck x

Morning you have been lucky I applied and only received a partial refund as they claimed they could only award on receipt of notificationMy tax is due in Feb so I'll apply again then as now have the SoE
I'm not sure why that would have happened. I had been recieving PIP for the last four years and have been granted for the last 2022 and 2023. It says the adjusted payment should be on the tax reminder due in Feb but gives a number to ring and a case number incase I need more help. Could it be your pip award didn't cover the from last Feb? I would ring/write to them to find out why. Good luck xx
Yes, very good post it’s amazing how many people who are entitled to a rebate of half of their car tax don’t know. I was on PIP , five years before I found out , the DVLA would only back date my rebate for a year before I started to apply for it .
I get all of the car tax paid, We couldn't find my entitlement letter so paid for 1 month and the P.I.P sent it out to us, Another thing not to have to worry about,
Yes that's when you get higher rate for mobility which is what most people know. For standard mobility rate your entitled to 50% as a disabled driver. Xx
