my doc will only prescribe co-codamal and tramadol -
whilst others seem to get much stronger medication for their pains- all sorts of patches, lidocaine, morphine
why is it prescribed for some but not others?

Strong opioids aren't actually recommended for Fibro. There are more targeted medications available and non-medication treatments are also important. Have you tried taking information from the FibroAction website or the NHS Choices website in for your GP.
yeah I realise that certain medication are licenced for certain ailments.
aswell as fibro or cwp - I also have severe degeneration of my facet joints in spine L4/L5 which is extremely painful too
yet i`m still not offered any thing stronger.
no-one should have to suffer this amount of pain
My Doctor won't prescribe painkillers for my Fibro, he says that they are a mask rather than an attempt to cure. I understand that you have other pains and hope they help with those. Have you ever discussed meds such as anti-depressants, there are many that, so far, have shown to help in many cases of Fibro by raising the seratonin levels.
Best wishes and speedy recovery.
my docs wont give me prescribe pks, bloods showed a low level of vit d and folic acid andsaid take them for a month and well see if pain has eased or subsided,4 days after taking supplements,i started noticing energy levels were increased i woke up alert, and just felt great, today day five,im struggling, ive eaten really well with a great appetite,i feel sluggish,my ibs is full swing,im hot n sweaty, and really tired n irritable, dint wanna get out of bed this morning,my doc doesnt seem to be flowing with info, hasnt a clue of how hard it isto put up with nerve pain ,muscle cramps or headaches,i think its worth taking time to actually get as much info as you can and go to doctors armed ,making it clear to him that we are not divvies, when theyare aware that you are a human being suffering and want to beat this ,they realise it wud be easier to just coperate, for years i just got foobed off with pillss many groups, blogs as you can,and collect info to compare with your own ,and aswell im going to start a diary ,so wen the doc ask certain questions i can have a quick flick throug and answer him clearly and make his job a bit easier ,hope some of this will help you , gentle hugs X
I kept going back to my doctor over and over again, he put me on Amitriptyline and Tramadol mainly so that I would sleep at night. Then he referred me to a specialist in back problems as that is where my pain was the most although my whole body is just a mass of pain. He prescribed me Transtec patches (which are morphine based) and also sent me for an MRI to rule out anything like growths or abnormalities but as I have pain in my back I couldn't lie down, so he decided to send me to a pain clinic as he thought that maybe I might have Fibromyalgia like I said I might have in the 1st place. So referred I was, I now am under a pain specialist at The General Hospital in Southampton, she is a brilliant Doctor who actually listened to me I am now on Citalopram, Diazepam, Pregabelin, Amitriptyline and Transtec patches. The pain is still there but I get to be able to sleep at night. Hope this helps
