Hi iv'e been on antidepressants too and was on them for two years along with Ibuprofen i decided they were making me too relaxed and was'nt really helping me with the pain and being so relaxed about everything meant that things were just building up around me and making me feel worse eg the housework decorating etc so i took myself off them and just stick to ibuprofen and paracetamol the pains still bad but at least my minds in the right place and because of that i force myself to do things which i didnt bother with before so i do'nt feel so down in the dumps antidepressants arnt always the answer and you can take paracetamol with Ibuprofen if the pains really bad .

the best anti depression tabs i tryed for me where fluxotine they did pick me up but started to need more to achieve things. i try doing jobs like housework bits at a time and try not to let it build up even if its doing hoovering then rest have coffee a biscuit and tabs then try do some ironing or cook the dinner for me and my partner. think the thing is to try a pace yourself and not try do everything all at once or in one day because to you just totally tirer yourself out and you can`t do anything.

Yes thats what i was on fluxotine and also amitriplin at night to help me sleep i know what you mean about pacing yourself you can only do as much as you feel able but i found that when i first got fm i had to pull myself up the stairs using the banasters because the less i did the weaker the muscles became in my legs and then i began to have trouble walking i even had to start letting my 8 year old son walk to school alone which i felt so guilty about so i met my partner and we are both into rock music and i found a pub that does bands so every so often we would have an evening down the pub and everyone after a few drinkd would be up on the dance floor so i joined in and doing this about every 4 or 5 weeks 2hrs of dancing my legs begain to grow stronger they still ache most days and i dont know what i would do without my Ibuprofens but it made me realise that by pushing myself i was making my self grow stronger and fight the fm instead of sitting there as i once was making myself depressed about it i have this alwful illness but im not going to let it beat me try to have a positive mind my specialist told me to do less on good days and more on bad days to balance my self everyone has to do what they feel is right for them but it defanatly helps having a positive atitude .

yes i totally agree there i did find if you completely give in to it you end up you can`t even get out of bed. and you slowly get weaker and worse and yes i do wat i can and always to try to push myself not let it beat me positive attitude is needed. as i said in one of my other post my doctor got my going to gym and trying cycling and walking on treadmill to get strength up gradually . and i walk on my job so i get exercise each day. but some days i`m so wore out after a shift all i can do is make dinner then go laydown in bed after to rest so i can muster enough strength the next day to work again it is a constant battle.but you have to keep trying.i know what you mean about the stairs its like trying to climb steep hills sometimes. I`m trying my best to keep working even through the pain and i manage but sometimes the doctor has to give me a bit of time off with exhaustion and pain is to much. particular when i get the bad flare ups.which is worse than normal everyday pain.I sometimes feel embrassed as i`m not old yet although sometimes feel like i am. I`m 37 . And alot of people don`t understand what its like trying to do things and say sure your young and fit whats could possibly be wrong with you. because on the surface you can`t always tell what someone is suffering from.

I believe with FMS pain medication works differently with different people. I have spoken to quite a few people with FMS and what works for one person does not work for another. It's just a case of taking what works for you, if anything actually does work at all.

Yeah i agree im 41 had this for 5 years but reading comments on this web site have realised there are people as young as eighteen with fm and that must be terrible its hard enough at our age coping cant imagine what i would have felt like if i had fm at that age i just keep praying that one day it will just disapear just as quickly as it appeared or there will be a break through and a remedy good luck and lets hope we all get over this im told it can be with you for years or it can just go x

its only seeing here on the site that people with this seem to getting affected at all ages where before i was diagnosed my doctor had told me it tended to people of older age where affected by it.

i am the same, and am fed up of living in a tablet fog.I read in a magazine about a gel sold in health shops.Musseltone.....its New Zealand green lipped muscles and glucosimine.Give it a go i thought and............best thought i have ever had.its wonderful. hubby rubs it on and as i relax it feels warm and relaxing and hey ho pain is going. Do try it, i think its about £7 a tube, but a little goes a long way.
