Why do I keep on getting Pleurisy?

I have had pleurisy again, but, it ended up as pneumonia. My fault as I did not go to the GP early enough, they tell me. Fine IF I can get an appointment and IF I can get down there alone, which is about as possible as a chocolate teapot.

Thats interesting i have had pneumonia twice in the past year

I was told the first time that it was because my body was exchausted

And at risk from anything . Its not as if i am skinny far from it and eat loads of veg ,my family was shocked that i could get this as i never even had a cold.

Actually, that is an interesting question. I've lost count of the number of times I've had bouts of pleuritic pain (both with and without pneumonia) over the years. It does seem to come on more readily when I'm already low with fibro and other types of pain, but it sometimes just hits out of the blue. I wonder if the nerve pain associated with bouts of pleurisy is either caused by a fibro flare, or is perhaps the trigger for one?

All GPs have a responsibility to see emergency cases that day. So if it happens again, try and ring first thing in the morning and use the crucial phrase "I need an emergency appointment".

Has your GP run any blood tests in recent months to figure out if something else is going on that might be causing this?
