Hi Bannana. I contracted a lung infection last november - 3 lots of antib's didn't clear it, and find I've since been left with nasal infection. doc gave me nasal decongestant but hasn't done much good. It just keeps on coming back. I often get facial pains extending into gums and teeth. Latest thing for me is coming out in blisters, both large and small ones, along with little lumps under skin, especially on arms. hope this is helpful. We're not alone out there, there's always someone in our court.

hi there floran, thats really intersting too no, i keep having repeats of this same episode aswell, and it is so unpleasant that it makes me sick, and the pains s o bad, that, i cannot actually work through this. it also affects my teeth, and my ears, they feel very tender and sore too. the dentest says that there is no pain for toothache, and say's it could be conected too the fascial pain.???omg, you have blisters?? i dont have those, thankfully, and i sympathise with you, the nasal spray is rubbish, i have too take an anti histamine everyday, and that helps, but, makes me well drowsy along with the amitriptylines. my doc says its depression, more than the fibro.. but, i have read up on it, and although depression is a link, and the aches and pains i have are well strong, and i have been depressed before with similar symptoms, but, once given ant-d's they go away, i have been on the amitryptaline now for approx 2 weeks, and its making NO difference, too the pains in my neck, arms, and shoulders, yet, it has settled down my restless legs, but, its giving me worse, sleep disturbances at night, yet i want too sleep in the day????my g.p is giving me a b12 blood test, and i want too no what that is for??? any answers but be greatly appreciated, as i feel like its never ending and im going mad, thinkins im a hypercondriact.xx

Hi Bannana, yeah I'm sure all of us out here with fibro have felt (and been treated) like a hypochondriac! Took two years for my diagnosis, and I just burst into tears, cos I knew then I wasn't going mad. Such a relief, but having to face pain on a daily basis is very depressing. I havn't had a decent night's sleep in 8 years but my docs and the pain clinic refuse to give me sleeping tabs. Amytriptaline rendered me unable to function. No sleep at night, but a zombie 10 hours later. Hope you get some relief soon! xx

floran, has your doctor considered whether this could now be a fungal infection? One issue with antibiotics is that they also kill off your natural probiotics, making you more at risk of getting fungal infections

Fascial pain is not the same as facial pain. Which one did you mean?

Fibro can cause pain anywhere in your body, including the face.

Fibro itself doesn't really cause predictable localised pain, but most (all?) people with Fibro also have myofascial pain, which is due to fascial restrictions on muscles, and this can cause predictable (ie. repetitive) localised pain, as well as other symptoms.

Fibro can mean that you are run down, even if nothing else is going on, and this can mean you are more prone to infections.

Myofascial restrictions can also be linked to sinus problems, because of restrictions around the sinuses, and pain that manifests like sinus pain.

Frequent infections may be a sign that you are low in probiotics. It can also be a sign of another condition being present that affects the immune system. And some chronic infections, such as systemic Candida, can leave you prone sinus infections. Systemic Candida can have symptoms similar to Fibro, so it can be mis-diagnosed as Fibro, and Fibro could also mask a systemic Candida infection.

Thanks LyndseyMid for your reply to Bannana as this may clear up something for me that the docs have missed. I was diagnosed with fibro in 2002, and have found all aspects of health slowly going downhill, recurrent infections being part of it. Have tried every drug the docs have given, but am allergic to codeine which is found in a lot of the meds. Been vegetarian 49 years so am careful of diet. I'll check this out with doc and hopefully get somewhere! Thanks again.

hi lyndsey, the pain i have in my face, is not always connected too a sinus infection, it just is alot of pressure, and makes me feel very sick, and the pain in my jaw and ears are horrible too.i do not have tender points like sinus pressure, i have self tested and i no there sure is a difference in the two of them.i will check out systemic candida. thank you ever so much for the support and help here.

It could well be related to myofascial pain (in your face - how confusing!). Myofascial trigger points are a common cause of the painful jaw disorder TMJD.

hi there at the moment i have sinus and ear infection, also tinitus,ENT said its caused by glue ear a condition that children normaly get,the treatments is grommets which do help for about 12 months until they come out.i read in a book about fibromyalgia that this is one of the many complaints that we have, hoped this as helped xx

I have facial pain, sore teeth, painful jaw and severe ear pain. This was finally diagnosed as TMJD.

My sinuses now feel constantly blocked and i have lost at least 50% of being able tto smell anything.

I was told i have only mild TMJD but these last 6 months the ear pain and jaw pain are worse so I am going to ask to be referred to ENT to make sure it isnt anything other than fibro or TMJD.

Its worth getting checked for TMJD though.

Hope this helps. x
