Does anyone suffer with B.P.P.V or extreme dizziness as a symptom of fibro? If so, have you found anything that can help?

I get lightheadedness on a regular basis when i get up from sitting or crouching.

But my doc dismissed it.

However I am anaemic so that may be why it is worse now.

Have you checked your blood levels?

Hope you get some helpful answers.

Thank you all for responding - my blood levels are fine so don't know why I keep getting these attacks - sometimes I am unable to move for hours and have totally zero balance. They seem to be happening more frequently and come on so suddenly. Thank you all once again x

Hi reikilady, yes hun I have this.I starteds =some time ago waking up wanting to be sick for no reason (or I thought) and then the vertigo when I moved my head laying down started and eyes rolling.

It`s like the feeling you have when you have drunk too much and the bed spins.

It`s because of calcium granules in the ear,and one doctor called it Top shelf vertigo.

I have actualy fainted trying to sit up when it`s bad.

It then dissapears for a while, only to strike again. It has nothing to do with fibro, well saying that mine doesn`t I have always had problems with my ears.

Hugs Butterfly xxx

Hi there. My friend has just been diagnosed with this but she doesn't have fibro. I think it can affect anyone. I think we are more susceptible to alsorts of things, which doesn't help. She said it helps to find a position to put your head in until the feeling passes. It sounds horrible, sending you hugs xxxxxxx

Hi ive been diagnosed with this, going to see an ENT specialist on monday, i had a bad scooter accident 2 years a go was thrown off the back of my husbands vespa, a motorbike was going to fast he couldnt stop hit us from behind, i was thrown into dual carriage way, my head hit the floor so bad the doc thinks the gristle that should be in my ear is now some were else, may need surgery, when he looked at my ears, that was his conclusion, has been getting worse over the last 2 years, now the symptoms are when i turn over in bed the whole room spins, only last a few minutes, but i cant look up at tall objects as i can feel my self going, will let you know what specialist says, xx

For all of the above see b12d.org/ I'm lucky enough to have spoken to Dr chandy and taking B12 has helped with vision problems, odd sensations in my legs, hypoglycemia and dizzy spells, my mum has had pernicious anemia most of her life and evan my nan had symptoms and fainting spells, It's also helped my daughter and improved her concentration :-) I'm a big believer in how much it can help some people. Do get advice first.

Hiya! I also have pernicious anaemia and have 3 monthly injections of B12. Unfortunately, with regard to the dizziness etc it hasn't really made things any better. I do feel less tired and exhausted though so I suppose thats something! Thank you x

You may also want to ask your GP about menieres, alot of the syptoms are the same as FM but it is a completely different condition, one of the main symptoms being vertigo. xx

I get dizzy from sitting to standing too and although I get given iron tablets to deal with it, my iron levels are never that low...one Dr nearly questioned it...might mention it again to my new super wonderful GP see what he says...

Vertigo is one of the WORST things Ive ever had.It was about 2 yrs ago, for 5 days solid.I woke up in the night, went to turn over and WHOOOSH, the whole room started flying around in different directions.Awful sensation.I had to keep so still or it was off again.getting up just for a wee was an ordeal. I was given tablets for travel sickness and they did calm it down, but it took 5 days. was told Its to do with the fluid in you ears becoming unbalanced.I think Id rather have Fibro if I was given the choice (got that too and arthritis and stuff)or have my teeth pulled without anaesthetic !! I get little recurring "whizzies" now and then, especially when I look up or turn too quickly. Its a wavy feeling or the "lift stopping" sensation. Im so scared of getting it again. I dont think its connected to Fibro. My brother had Vertigo a yr before I did and he hasnt got Fibro. But there are SO MANY symptoms with Fibro, who knows?!! Hope youve got some answers now.x

Vertigo & dizziness are horrible. I occasionally get bad dizziness where I can't even move my head in bed or sit up or go to the loo. I used to think it was hormonal but also think it may be triggered by stress if it is one of your weak areas. Interestingly enough my mum was diagnosed with Benign Positional Vertigo in middle age and she had awful sickness with it and it would come on suddenly. It sounded more like Menieres. But she did find Sercs helped and also sea bands (that sailors wear!) xx
