I do but for me it is water retention and I am on 40mg Furosemide. I was on them everyday but now every other day, at some point I will just take them when the swelling occurs xxxxxx
Swelling is not a symptom of Fibro, so definitely get this checked out asap. If you can't see the doctor soon, get someone to take photos of the swelling to show the doctor.
hi, yes I get very swollen hands, & ankles, & my legs get worse if I have been standing for only a short time. My gp thinks it is the Pregabalin that I am on that is causing this swelling, plus it has also put weight on me. I am hoping to start weaning off the Pregabalin next month.Hope today is a pain free day for you hun. x
I have lympoedema in both legs which makes them swell significantly, they are very red and lumpy. I don't take water tabs as they're no good for lympho. I wear compression stockings which do work a bit although they can make my legs quite painful. My hands do swell but I put that down to the fibro. XX
Thanks everyone, i went to the docs today, but i had to see a locum. and just kept goin on about waitin for a scan, he didnt even look at my hands, unfortunatly i was not feeling in the best of moods so ended up just walking out of there. Will wait now and try and get app with my own doc.. xx
I get really bad pains in my hands and like you, drop things. It started out withpainful points on the outside of my wrists. The worst pains are during the night when I wake up and have to try to massage them, they dont really swell. The rhumey says that I have osteo arthritus in my wrists but the rest is fibro. You have to take it that they know what they are talking about.
Keep going back to your GP un til they listen to you, you know what you feel, not them.
Good luck xxx
Hi yes I get these symptoms too and like you at its worse I tend to loose the power of grip and hold and drop things a lot I cudnt tell you how many times Ive scalded myself or others with a mug of tea. My work collegues know to stand well back from me on our break :-). My gp informed me that it is a common symptom of fibro and that although we feel like our hands ( or other body parts) are swollen; according to the correct medical definition of swelling they actually dont fit that catogory - so just another weird fibro phenomonon (think spelling is wrong but you know what I mean lol ) anyway I find when im like this a pressure bandage helps I wear them on my hands/arms for a few hours and if the pain is really bad I will put on some heat rub before applying the bandages. Hope this helps and your pain and swelling becomes more manageable.
Ps Another tip I learned from here is if you wake up with swollen painful hands is to soak them in a basin of warm water (as hot as you can manage) as heat seems to help loosen them up and make them more flexible; then wear gloves to help retain heat you can buy special gloves intended for this purpose on the internet look up aids for arthritis.
Take care
