Does anyone have extremely painful wrists? My dominant wrist(right) is agony.I can't open screw lids, use a tin opener and can't read a newspaper for long because of the way you have to invert your wrist.I drop things all the time and must admit now, it is making me depressed to add to all my other pains.

Painful wrists?
Are you sure you dont have carpal tunnel syndrome. I have this. it first started with waking in the nigh with agonising pains in my wrists and numbness in fingers. wearing splints at nights helped a lot until condition worsened. but were a great relief at first. Ask ur Dr to check if it could be this.
I have an aggravating click in my wrist joint when I move it sideways or rotate it, followed by a sharp pain that shoots from my wrist to my elbow and up my forefinger . The joints in my forefinger in my left hand have also now started to get stuck when I try to bend the finger .
I think it's just the fibro as nothing else has been found.
xx
I know this an old reply but did you find out what it was, the clicking? I have the same symptoms
me too havent been able to peel potatoes for a few months now and have to get kids to open the cans now. had an xray yesterday to see if its oesteoarthritus
my dominant hand is the right, but my left one is driving me potty! they are both uncomfortable and dr says i can use a support if required and i do when not driving. my mother had op for carpal tunnel so i hope i dont have it!

yeah me too, i suffer badly with my wrists and my ankles. Was tested for carpols, arthritis and reynards and god knows what else but nothing, so again i get told........ its just one ov those things, so im guessing its part ov the fibro!

My wrists hurt as well and I had carpal tunnel opp on both hands last year. It has improved a little but I wasn't convinced it was carpal tunnel, didn't have any numbness or pins and needles just agonising pain down both arms. Couldn't lifft my arms up! I think sometimes has the opp made the nerve endings on my wrists more painfull? But I suppose it's better than the pain I had before. I've also got reynads and that isn't any better!
Helenuk1963, don't let this get put 'as part of fibro'. Other problems can occur and we may be more prone to some things, like carpal tunnel syndrome.
I had nerve conduction tests earlier in the year which proved I have carpal tunnel problems and a borderline ulnar nerve problem, which affects the little finger. I've had an injection in my right wrist which has helped.
For anyone having numbness and pins and needles in hands get referred to an orthopaedic specialist, who can arrange the tests and advise further. The injection was like having a blood test done, especially if you don't look at what is happening!
Hello Tillybaby, Gentle hugs,
It's best you get your GP to rule out anything else as not all aches and pains are associated with Fibro.
I too have sore, painful wrists, the right one especially and both ankles as well. Carpel Tunnel was ruled out as were other possibilities and it was concluded mine was down to the Fibro - I try to keep my hands and feet warm as this tends to help relieve the pain somewhat and I now use a walking stick as my ankles "lock" causing me to stumble.

I had carpal tunnel release surgery a couple of years ago, so now I'm mostly free of tingling and numbness etc. Rheumatology OT has provided me with thumb restrictor wrist splints and they are a great help, especially when typing. I also wear them a couple of hours every day just to give my thumb and wrists a rest - I have osteoarthritis in my hands too.
Don't know what I have yet apart from sjogren's s and myalgia in difefrent parts of my body - but I can't use my wrists at all or they get very painful for days and need bandages to keep them very tight. Also my fingers and finger tips and hand when I hold the steerwheel for a while. My toes, feet, feet joint with legs...it's ridiculous!!! But, I presume common. I always though it was with this type of chronic illness.
I have this but it is all the way up into my hands. I also cant hold a phonr for long. I am going for a carpal tunnel test on Wednesday.
i sometimes have severe pain in my wrists and I can't open jars or use a can opener a my fingers lock as well as my wrists killing me. The other week I dropped a jar of coffee as my wrist just gave way. When my wrists are really bad I wear wrist supports. They help.
