Hi all, I have hurt my forearm somehow, probably just lifting a pan or something else heavy. It's been about 4 weeks now, and it's pretty constant achy, sometimes sharp stabby pain, which also stops me sleeping, and doing all sorts of tasks. I've tried strong pain gels on area and general strong painkillers, but can't get any relief. Any suggestions or similar experiences would be most welcome.

Very painful forearm
Ouch. Poor you. Four weeks is too long for this to be "nothing". So I would suggest a chat with the GP - ask for a F2F appointment so they can properly assess the arm. Ask for a scan if you think it's necessary. And potentially some physio if the scan comes out ok xx
Hi there Jan, if you have had that kind of pain for 4 weeks I really do think its time to have a word with your GP. There could be many reasons for that type of pain to be honest. But from my personal experience fibro pain shouldn't last that long whatever may have caused it.
If resting and home remedies have not helped then I would definitely be calling my surgery xx

Hello, my fibro pain is everywhere but the main pain is always right forearm! Always has been. I use bio freeze when I want Cold (either roll on or spray) and I won’t ever be without red tiger balm for any of my pain . I had x rays, and every other check on my arm and never found anything. I hope you get either some answers or some relief soon x
Which part(s)? I used to often get shoulder and elbow pains from things like table tennis, football or lifting something in the wrong way, some kind of strain. It could last for 6 months and more.
Now I know I have to anti-stretch it immediately after it starts, so it never gets into 'a rut' any more. But once it was in that rut it was hard to do anything to get out. Did tho finally, also mainly using gym gadget workout and stretches.
If you can't find movements yourself that help, a physiotherapist might help. If that's not possible or takes too long maybe you can find a youtube physiotherapist video. All presupposing it's not something serious. Osteopaths, acupressurists shd also get that down pretty quickly.
I'd do some or all that's been suggested quickly, before it'll probably make more other things start up, like as you say sleep and activities, probably a protective posture....
Thank you so much, thats really useful information. It's my upper forearm, from elbow to wrist, and yes I did have something similar in the other arm a couple of years ago that took at least 6 months to ease. If there's a quicker way to heal that would be great. Can I ask what u mean by anti-stretch it, and any more detail on gym gadget workout?
Anti-stretch: As soon as I realize the tiniest amount of overstraining anywhere I stop in my tracks & twist my limbs, back or neck gently & hold it for 5 to 20 seconds. Thinking about, it it's the same as what I call twist-stretching, which I've been developing and do regularly now to get fibro-pains down quickly, night and day, in muscles, tendons & fascies. That's turning whatever (often everything at the same time) outwards for 5-20'', then inwards, 1-4x. As above: the sooner the better. Helps about 90%, but maybe cos I've been doing it for months now. My acupressurist has to do the rest.
Gym machines (not free weights): Before fibro & CoV my wife often reminded me to just to go to the gym more regularly when I had some long term arm problem, as it always surprised us how good that worked - wdn't've thought, but it never did harm & often helped even in seemingly hopeless cases. I'm pretty sure if I needed it now I'd - VERY CAREFULLY - check if push-ups, chair triceps or hanging on bar harm or help. This is the 7' ('scientifically proven') workout I do whenever fibro lets me, without needing machines youtu.be/U6etLKswjq8.
