Hi. Has anyone tried the new drug "apparantly" Lyrica?
Hi dag338, i'm really sorry but i dont take this but i know there is lots on here who does, I hope someone will come on and answer your question, all i can say is go into the tags at the top and see if there is any blogs or posts on Lyrica, press on (L) and see if anyone else has had this problem, maybe you could ring your GP in the morning just to check it out and put your mind to rest, sending Gentle Hugs xxx
hi Dag, i take Pregabalin haven't experienced any swelling of the face but what i have experience is hair loss. other than that though i find it really helpful put it this way before i was put on it i couldn't even get out of bed but as long as i take it in the evening i at least can get up with out being in as much pain.
if you are experiencing it such side effect please go back to the doctor as this cold be dangerous as the swelling could get to your throat.
good luck love. xxxx

Hi dag, as others have said because of the facial swelling are you right to stop taking it and get medical advice asap - your gp or even A & E because facial swelling is dangerously close to your wind-pipe.
Hope you don't mind but am including this for anybody else that is reading it because you say 'Lyrica' in your heading.
I was recommended pregabalin (Lyrica) by a neurologist and although he forgot to put this in the letter to my GP, my GP gave me a prescription for it. When I started taking it 3 times a day as prescribed I was staggering around like a drunk so I stopped and told my GP I didn't want any more. However I did try again because I was sleeping so badly and I knew it made me drowsy. I took 2 at bed-time and had the best night's sleep for years! I think it also helps with the pain, especially in my neck where I have a trapped nerve. I can only take it as I get in to bed though.
Hope you find something that works for you soon. Christine x
Hi All,
thankyou for your support. I have been to the doctor who told me not to take any more of them. He said I was having an allergic reaction to them. I was on 50mg 3 times a day. He said to try them again in a few weeks to rule them out re: face sweeling. I stopped the Gabapentin before starting the pregabalin and checked out what it's used for before taking it.
I have started to look normal again thank goodness. I am in so much pain now though it's unbeleivable and am sleeping all the time. I too was staggering about on the Lyrica and couldn't see with unbeleivable headaches!! Just think it was not suited to me.
Hello all, hello dag, gentle hugs,
Am late to "the party" as I've been away a couple of days at my daughters.
So sorry to hear you had a bad reaction to the drug dag, but happy you are looking normal again. And can find a drug that is best for you.
I've been on Pregabalin 4 weeks now and apart from sleepiness all day I am having the best sleep at night in over 30 years. Yay me! Though I do wake about halfway through the night due to restless legs, after a pace about, I'm back in bed an hour later and back in ZZZZland! Pregabalin also has helped with the pain too - I take 1 pill at nigh, 2 hours before bed and 1 pill in the morning on waking - however as the dosage is so far apart I do take 2 Co-codamol 30/500mg with my night pill (alone Co-codamol hardly ever gets to the pain before wearing off again) and I'm greatly relieved of pain - not free of it though - through the 5 hours sleep I get. I then take 2 Co-codamol on waking also and for the 12 hours between I take 2 more Co-codamol in between. I find I'm managing much better with the pain and able to do a few chores pacing myself. Before Pregabalin, I was only allowed to take 6 Co-codamol a day as the doctors REDUCED my month amounts from 250 pills down to 100! I was not able to do more than fill a kettle and stand making a cuppa, before the pain became unbearable and I'd end up spending all day on the sofa. I got the doctors to up the quantities to 160 and along with the Pregabalin, and after many years of Fibro suffrage, I'm slowly gaining ground enough to get back into getting my home to where I can invite the few friends I have left, around for coffee/tea etc. I just hope and pray the Pregabalin continues to help me.
