Hi, I had to have an assesment. Its pretty painless. they ask you some questions about your mobility in general. Dont hold back or be brave, tell them how you are on your worst day. The assesor will then walk with you, maybe back to your car or a short distance from the office.

Again dont be brave, use whatever walking aids you need, stop for a break if you need to. Walk at your own pace, however slowly that may be and dont try to hide the pain.

Remember they need to see how bad it can be for you, so for once dont try to fight the pain and soldier on, give into it or they wont be able to see how you struggle.

The lady who did mine was very nice and gave me the number to get some aids fitted round my house too.

Best of luck. xxx

We phoned the council and explained my difficulty walking and that we had two autistic children who can't deal with being on buses etc and asked how do we apply for a blue badge. The guy There said that unless I or the children claim mobility part of DLA we couldn't have a blue badge. It just seems pot luck .

Hippychick, it doesn't matter when whether or not you are getting Mobility part of DLA when applying for a blue badge. It does depend upon where you live if you need an assessment or not. Good luck!

I don't get DLA and back on assessment rate of ESA as waiting for tribuanl again. Applied for blue badge with a report from my GP but still got called for an assessment. Had to see an Occuational Therapist at my local hospital and she was lovely, so different from the atos bods. So was her report, it had a completely different tone to the atos one, so much that I have sent it in to go with my appeal papers. My nice new shiny blue badge has made so much difference to my life, it is so much easier to get out and about - as long as I can keep my car on the road (-;
