Hi guys, First post.....I have my mobility assessment for a blue badge this afternoon. I did submit a letter from my gp with my application to say my blue badge should be endorsed as I am limited to walk 10-20m but after ringing the council they said for first time applicants an assessment is carried out.
So my question is, what should I expect? what will they ask/make me do? I am very nervous at the moment
Thank you

I am sorry I haven't personally had an assessment for a Disability Blue Badge however you can find out more information about the scheme on the Disability Rights Factsheet online, please see link;
I wish you all the best for your assessment and look forward to hearing a positive result as having a Disability Blue Badge whilst living with chronic pain and fatigue 24/7 certainly makes it much easier to achieve our daily activities.

My first assessment I went to the center, they asked me a lot of questions based on the form that I completed and then we went for a short walk. Unfortunately I wasn't successful! However this year, I had another assessment, which this time was done at my house, exactly the same progress and I will admit I did get very emotional, I made notes for the few weeks beforehand about things I wasn't able to do and how it affected my life and was just so honest about it all. I got my blue badge approved on the day by the assessor!
My advice would just be really honest and try and write down beforehand how you feel barbecue in the moment you will forget!
On another note, welcome to our wonderful forum❤️💙
Thank you for the reply, I do have a letter from my GP to say I should be endorsed with a blue badge as I am limited to walk 10-20m. I will take a copy with me to the assessment.
Okay that should help as well but it is the assessor's final decision I think! I just wrote about things that I struggled to do for example couldn't go to work on Monday due to pain in my hips or couldn't cook dinner as didn't have the stuff I needed and was in too much pain and tired to go to the shops! It's also worth mentioning that it will improve your quality of life and mean that you can be more included in going out at social events etc if you don't have to walk as far xx
No problem at all, glad I could help! Yes please do let us know how it goes 💜💙
When I tried I had to go to a centre in town, they made me walk 40 meters with a struggle, I was refused because I could walk that far!! I was offered an alternative of a local council parking permit for £10 (same as a blue badge) it means i can park almost anywhere (except robbing hospital car parks)
Hi all, all done the therapist was really nice, we spoke about stuff and she is doing a talk on fibromyalgia next week so she was really interested in what I had to say. I was asked questions about how I cope, what I do, etc. I walked back with the therapist to my car, which was a tiring walk. But, hopefully fingers crossed. She did say she was going to talk with her manager after our meet. Fingers crossed
