Does anyone else with fibro suffer with recurrent kidney infections?

Hey, I have had bad kidney infections over the last 2 years...like really bad, in hosp on morphine... I also had a large amount of blood (filled 2 of their lovley bowls) when i vomited...just the once...sorry if this is too graphic...havin a really bad day... thanks x

This isn't a Fibro thing, though I'm sure someone will say they struggle with this too!

Some autoimmune conditions, especially Lupus, can affect the kidneys. Some chronic infections (e.g. systemic Candida, Chronic Lyme) can also affect your immune system so infections are more likely. As can some other diseases. so make sure you get really thoroughly checked out.

ahh! sweetheart that sounds not very good at all but no i dont think its something iv come across i know afew people who also have fybro and they dont recognise this either sorry please go back to your doctor im concerned for you honey thinking of you :)x kay

Hi i have suffered very bad kidney infections for over 4 years now,i had never ever suffered with them before in my life, untill i had an hesterectomy. I have been on antibiotics daily for over 4yrs now down to the kidney infections.Like you i have been kept in hospital for over a week on many occations through the pain and tempreture and on 2 hourly oral morphine. I was on antibiotics 3/4 times aday 500mg each,but once the course was finnished with in the next week or so i would have another bad kidney infection and thats how it has been up untill nearly a year ago, i am and have been under the urogynocology dept, since i had my opp,at the hospital and there the ones who i have been with for this on going problem, they put me on 2 tablets (antibiotics)Doxycycline, 2 at nite time, now i'm down to 1 at nite,they are 100mg and after years of suffering kidney infections i am now believeing that i am finally getting it under control, thank god, i also had many times when my urine was pure blood,and all my urine tests had traces of blood in them. I really no what ur going through on top of haveing fm and all the other illness'es we already have is very hard to cope with. What has your doctor said, has he not refered you to the hospital ?? i really feel for you hun, if you want to ask anything or send me a message your more than welcome. get recurrent urine infections....and irritable bladder....only happened since fibro..... very painful too... hospital wouldn't believe how painful my amplified pain was....with one nurse saying 'its only UTI not that painful' again a health professional not understanding fibro!!!!
