At times it stops her from being able to do anything. Is there anyone else who similarly suffers and is there anything she can use to help because it is really becoming a crippling factor for her .

Fatigue...My sister has FM and suffers greatly from fatigue,

Apart from when really severe i have learnt to cope with the pain with the help of meds if too bad, but with me the fatigue is the most crippling. The rheumatologist even told my bosses at the time that is what i would suffer with most. Unfortunately all she can do is rest when she gets it. I have to, it comes on so bad i can almost collapse as the energy just leaves my body and even lifting my arm is painful.
Sorry cant be more help.
Gentle hugs to her. I can definately sympathise. xx
A drug that I use for my MS has been suggested to her to try but she would like to know if any other sufferers have tried it, it is called Amantadine and for me it is really helpful but obviously there are questions as to whether it would help a FM sufferer
Hi I had very bad fatigue and then prescribed Pramiprexole and my fatigue os much less..... i still have to rest for two hrs in the day and getting up in the morning still takes its time but when I'm up I have more energy than when first diagnosed..... Hope this helps.. x
yes im the same im afraid..the only way round it 4 me is 2 rest..im not a gud sleeper but i have found takin my amitriptyline at 7ish helps me sleep better ..rather than takin it later..so if i sleep a bit better the fatigue isnt qiute as bad xxx
im not sure as the side effects from this drug (potential) according to search gives you some of the problems we already encounter. I think best to talk to the gp. Unless he suggested it in that case it could possibly help. Definately get more info before trying new drugs.
xx
Hi, Amitriptyline works for a lot of us with Fibro. Some people take it every night but like myself only take it when it gets bad. It does help one sleep and dulls the pain somewhat. It is an antidepressant but works on the right brain areas to help with Fibro. Your sister could start on a low dose working your way up if necessary. I started with 10mg at night and after two years am only on 40mg at night. Your sister has to do a lot of research, have a supportive G.P. and manage her own pain levels as best as she can. All the best.
I'm on 20mg of Amitrityline and 50g of Tramadol. I tend to have a restless sleep, rarely feel as if I've had a good nights sleep. Have to sleep most afternoons, like today, I slept soundly for 3 hours!
im also on 50mg tramadol and 50mg amitryptilline but only take 25mg if i know i have to do stuff the next day but i still only sleep for a max 2 hours before waking for hr or so then go back sleep,if im lucky if not wake and go sleep about 5am. But i have to sleep for at least hr during day, and when CFS kicks in although not necessarily sleep have to sit and rest.
When I feel like this I just let sleep take me over. Perhaps I'm in the fortunate position to be retired, but then guilt trips in because chores arn't being done.
Urge your sister to have as much sleep as she can, a power nap can do wonders
