Hi
I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. It's horrible. Could you go back to your Gp for him to give you something else? Please take care of yourself Lynne
I find that pregabalin helps me to sleep. I take 300mg at bed time, 150mg in the morning and 150mg late afternoon. I take 225mg venlafaxine for depression, the pregabalin was prescribed for anxiety but I have tried a double dose at night and I sleep ok most nights. Anti inflammatory pills burn my stomach so I don't take them but am prescribed 30/500 co codamol and 50mg tramadol but they don't really work. I've tried CBD weed and that made me more pain free than any painkillers have over the past few years. If you don't smoke it might be worth trying the oil. The seven seas timeless capsules are a good vitamin to try along with magnesium and turmeric too. Hope this helps a little.
Can you tell me more about the weed i used to smoke it but didnt do anything im still waiting to see my own gp since being diagnose just crazy how im only 26 and got aches and pains like 80 is there any specialist you see x
Sorry to say this, but Duloxetine can take up to 6 weeks to work on your nerve pain, and there may be side effects on the way. Duloxetine works on the route your pain takes to get to the brain, which is where you actually feel it.
Amytriptiline is an anti-inflammatory and is intended to reduce the pain where the damage has been done which cause those pain signals. They should complement each other.
Like you, I found I reacted badly (v. badly) to Amitryptiline so took Ibuprofen for YEARS! These can cause major problems to your stomach and digestive tract.
I started on Duloxetine this Summer and stopped taking all my other meds over time.
I now rely on supplements and my diet to provide the anti-inflammatory side of the equation, predominantly Magnesium, Vit D3 with K2, D-Ribose and Vit B12 as supplements, together with thermo-nutrients such as Turmeric (try looking for Circumin with Bioperine - the bio-active agent in Turmeric and Black Pepper, which 'switches it on'), Ginger, Cayenne, Cinnamon, etc.
I try and eat as much of these as possible, but also take them in supplements as I can't eat that much Curry!
In addition, I also take 2 tablespoons daily of a high-quality organic cold-pressed hemp oil (bought in bulk as "Carp food" from Amazon's pet food dept. Honestly, it's wasted on fish and the 'human' version is 3 X the price! This works for me. I can only think it helps oil the lining of the nerves where the pain of Fibro is generated.
When I had my home visit from ATOS, I was lucky enough to get a Consultant who told me more about Fibro than anyone. I lived too far from any town/city to get to see one, so his information was invaluable. I also went as an in-patient on a Pain Management programme.
This helped me to recognise the causes of my flare-ups, the warning signs for approaching these and that I have a choice of how to react; whether to carry on hurting myself because the reward of that activity felt greater than the pain, or to stop.
Keep on with your Duloxetine, while you're doing that, get to know your body better and to listen to what it tells you.
Just to mention the non food grade ie Carp food will not have been put through the rigorous process for Human Consumption. I personally wouldn’t ingest anything that wasn’t Food Grade as you don’t know what germs & bacteria you are putting into your body.
I would say paying the extra money would be a safer option
