Can anyone advise. My teenage lad is having the most awful flare up.

This flare up has been going on for nearly a month and the only advise I'm being given is to try and get his sleeping pattern back to normal.

He's in an awful lot of pain lower stomach and chest, very weak, pain is worse during the night, most night it's between 4 and 5 am before he falls to sleep and he'll then not be able to waken for 12/14 hours.

He lost his appitite over 3 years ago and now only eats about 5/6 different types of food, he cannot bare fruit or veg. He also has Sensory Intergration Disorder which makes things a lot worse re sight, sound, hearing, touch, texture and taste. Each time he has a flare up he develops new symptoms. last month was restless leg syndrome.

The GP is understanding but doesn't have knowledge regarding M.E./CFS.

I'm feeling totally hopeless at the moment and would welcome any advice from fellow sufferers.

Wishing you all can have a peaceful day. Jackie

Many thanks Jules, I have spoken to them, they are very kind and understanding but I really need to find some way to ease his pain. Seeing the GP this evening because he does need some proper pain control. It's such an awful illness.

Cheers Jackie

So sorry to hear that he is so unwell. I would suggest that if you are not getting sufficient advice from your GP request to be seen by a consultant/Professor for better help. You do have a right to be given the right treatment, or should I say your son. If we don't push we don't get. Hope he gets the help he needs really soon. xx

Many thanks for your replies. We're in Taunton Somerset, the lads Consultants and OT are from the Taunton and Bath Hospitals

Saw the GP earlier and the lad was given a good examination, the G.P. feels the pain is due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, he's been given satchets of laxatives for the continual pain and antispasmodic tablets for the dreadful sharp pain.

The GP advises to continue with either Calpol, paracetamol/Ibroprofen is needed.

One thing after another but hopefully this medication will ease the pain.

Once again many thanks, wishing you all a good weekend. Jackie.
