Hiya i have sleep apnea as part of my fibromyalgia, i have a cpap machine. I was unable to drive until my sleep apnea was under control. My Sleep nurse wrote to the DVLA and i had a letter advising me i was allowed to drive again. Most of the CPAP machines are pretty quiet these days to be honest mine makes barely any noise. You get used to wearing the head gear, i tried wearing the nasal pillows but as i am a mouth breather they didnt worth so i use full head gear, but i dont have any problems with it. I have had Sleep Apnea for just over 5 years now with no problems and it is under control.

Message me if you have any more questions xx

Hi 66Amanda66, all boroughs treat the DVLA issue differently, where I am I didn't have to inform them until I had the letter stating that my OSA was being controlled. Other boroughs tell you to submit your licence until you receive the letter but that seems to take much longer.

Either way, you must inform the DVLA, there is a £1000 fine if you have not informed them.
