I don't anything about ADHD meds stopping fibromyalgia pain as I was unable to take anything for my ADHD. However my ADHD wasn't diagnosed until I was 46, last year, and I read that there are some ADHD experts that believe if you are diagnosed with fibromyalgia you should automatically be screened for ADHD, especially if you are female.

Hi I've just read your post re adhd and fibromyalgia my son is 46 and is just in the process of having adhd I'm just wondering about the corelation between the two conditions I've had fibromyalgia for about 25 years and wonder would my gp send me for tests to see if I have adhd since my son has it ty for sharing your post it was very interesting. X gentle hugs

I think largely depends on your postcode. We had to go private for the diagnosis and meds because the waiting list here is 7 years for adults and 5 years for children. I wanted my daughter especially to get access to meds before secondary school and 5 years would be too late.

They have even closed the "Right to Choose" NHS mechanism in Cambridge too as the list is deemed to long.

But we are supposed to have 4 times the national average of ADHD in Cambridge, the private company we used said our waiting lists are the longest of any place they know of in the UK so as long as you are not from here you should get shorter waiting lists. I think its worth going to the GP anyway and see what they say because they would be best placed (theoretically) to know what the situation is in your area, but in the South East/East Anglia its pretty dire...

Well I've been diagnosed with so many things over the years I'd got a bit jaded but the ADHD diagnosis has truly been mind-blowing. I thought I knew myself well, I've always been described as someone who was painfully self aware, but the more ive read the more I've come to understand things about myself I hadn't noticed before. A lot of it is quite depressing but at least I don't waste time endlessly wondering why I seem so different anymore!

Not sure about adhd meds but I do think there's a connection between fibro and neurodiverse types. I'm late diagnosed autistic with fibro and suspected adhd and most of females I know that are neurodiverse are also diagnosed with fibro.

Hi I meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD but choose not to get a confirmed diagnosis as I am now medically retired! However, I am now going to ask for a referral as I will try anything for the pain. Can I ask if other symptoms of FM have improved also such as fatigue? On a side note my FM improves greatly when I take steroids for my asthma,
