Hi, I have recently noticed a vast difference in how my body feels. I ache almost constantly, sometimes I feel like crying because I just don't know what to do with myself.I'm tired beyond belief, I can take the dog out for a walk in the morning and go back to bed cause just that simple thing has exhausted me, normal pain killers do not seem to shift any of it, my memory is absolutely shocking to the point I have to write myself notes and put them in my lunch box or I forget that I've written a note. My sleep pattern has become horrendous, I have no problems falling asleep, it's staying asleep that is the issue, I can be awake from like 2:30 onwards.
I've been referred for an MRI brain scan as I am experiencing neck ache that seems to travel up the back of my head, thankfully that was clear, and to rheumatology, seen the consultant who thinks I'm going through the menaopause at 45, but I've been doing my own research (dangerous I know) and I appear to fit almost every symptom of Fibro.
What was it that made you go and see your GP?

I really feel for you. It was the pain plus only having one hour or less sleep per night which is still the case as u have many conditions. Rheumatologist diagnosed me xxxx
It could be menopause. I started getting symptoms around 44/45 but took another year for the Dr to do a blood test which showed I was well into it. One of the main initial issues was sleep, brain fog. Have you had bloods done recently?
Hello there, did you get checked by a Rheumatologist? I have pain on several joints. Orthopedics told me my back has herniated discs, my shoulder has tears, my ankle is lacking stability etc. Which all seemed plausible. But surgery after surgery I'm not getting any pain relief and my muscles became weaker and pain got worse, so I went for a rheumatologist yesterday and she did a physical checkup and told me it's Fibromyalgia.
Her basis was on my mental state (anxiety, stress, mild depression fits) and the tender Points which I had 4+ being sensitive if I remember correctly. Also according to her, weakness in multiple ligaments and stiffness/soreness in alot of muscles can be an indicator. And I took alot of painkillers and anti-inflammatories with no results which was another factor . A typical indicator which I also had was no problems sleeping yet never actually feeling rested after sleeping. I won't say if u have the above symptoms it's guaranteed that you have Fibromyalgia, its most likely best to check with an experienced rheumatologist. Good luck and wish you all the best.
Yes I've seen a rheumatologist and he has prescribed me steroids to take for two weeks and then naproxen for the future. He said he thinks it's the menopause x
Hi my daughter has just been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and like you she can fall asleep at the drop of a hat she works 7 till 9 in a nusery (no babies)she then goes home and goes to bed till 2 oclock then goes back to work 3 oclock comes home bed she is on gabapentin and more so why dont you go to your doctor and talk to him hugs x
Thanks, I a man going to go back to the docs when I have a week off work x
I have history of Ankylosing Spondilitis and fibro attcks the muscles in the same places, but its the muscles attached to the bones that are painful not the joints. because my joints were so inflamed they have damaged the tip of the muscles in various places,I had over sued the muscle to prop up joint pain, I went back to my Rheumatologist saying I thought the A.S was active again and he gave me this explanation.
I get the same neck and head pain. It’s caused by over rotation of my upper spine, chiropractor can put it right but costs £30 each time
Only other pain I get now is burning in my leg muscles when walking uphill, but nearly 4 years of inactivity has made me really unfit. My energy levels are improving, I can walk 2 and a half to 3 miles 5 days a week.
You might find your neck/ head pain improves by changing your pillow—- one pillow only. I use a rectangular, very dense memory foam, anything else sets my pain off.
That feeling you describe when you ‘don’t know what to do with yourself’ is very familiar to me. I realise when that happens I just need to go to bed. It’s the hurting all over and feeling like all my nerves are too sensitive -sounds, touch, light and the fatigue too. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia after I got Lupus by my rheumatologist.
