although I know it’s absolutely normal to dream and have a nightmare regularly, since I had severe anemia ( which I’ve now recovered from ) I’m dreaming all night every night but with the added nightmare & night terrors almost every night I wake up afraid to go back to sleep for fear of been broken into and attacked or murdered !! Literally fearing for my life !! Is anyone else experiencing this ?
I actually only take amitriptyline now before bed ,
Don’t get me wrong I’m in pain too every day I struggle to get my feet & legs going every day & every part of every day it I just force myself, as with a lot of folk on here , when you try to explain to Drs I feel there eyes burning with disbelief, so I’m just reluctant to even try to explain to them , hope everyone enjoys their Sunday chill 😊

Hi there, Just a thought could the dreams/nightmares have anything to do with taking your medication at night. I have the same problem when I need to take my muscle relaxants for my pain. But I have to stay away from taking it in the evening or I will with out fail have dreams . Just a thought.
I’m not really sure ?! I think I’ll start taking it earlier in the evening, but then sometimes I end up in the wide awake club at 3am falling back to sleep 1/2 hour before I have to get up and go to work , thank you for your thoughts 😊
Hi ya, I find for me if I take diazepam any later than 6pm it makes me dream. To be honest sometimes it happens if I need to use it through the day time too. But not as much. I hope your doing ok xx
Thank you Dizzytwo,Umm I think I will try taking them earlier in the evening then.
Ummmm i am muddling along...I have been suffering with a headache/migraine sinus pain for just over a month, ive had ct scan all clear i do have a slipped disc too so perhaps its that!
Oh my what life throws at us eh!!
Take good care MO and I really appreciate your reply.
like Dizzytwo says could it be medication ? Yes very hard with a lot of GPs etc too actually listen too us which is such a shame, glad we can chat here Yesterday I managed more with pacing in between but today it’s differently pay back with pain and fatique, im differently soaking in the bath with some Epsom salts later .
I started having night terrors about 4 years ago and have them at least twice a week,
I told my Gp recently about them and she has asked I right down what's going on and when and blah and blah🥺🥺🥺🥺 😴😴😴😴
I am walking down a tunnel which is an overgrown alley way,It's always in the snow, I'm following foot prints when they stop I look up and see a load of eyes and sharp teeth ready to drop on top of me, The screaming gets me every time, (I think the screaming is my own)
I cant run because the snow is getting deeper,Odd because I thought It was a tunnel????
I feel something is cutting at my clothes 😱😱😱😱and hurting me, People all around cant see their faces, although I see their mouths with more sharp teeth laughing and no one helping me,,,,,
My cat used to wake me up licking my face and meowing, Hubby has came to wake me a few times,he has his own room so we don't wake up the other??????That didn't work !
I have a theory,, My cat no longer comes upstairs, she is 20 or 21 (I cant keep up anymore) She meows a lot more than she used to,,(the laughing????) She has sharp teeth and the eyes or maybe even the scratching might be her as well????? I sleep with my door shut and have done for a good few years
But I still get the same nightmare all the time????
Hmmmmm I wish there was a way where I can walk where ever without going that way???
If I could do that????? Well I cant,so I need a plan, I also take 100mg of Amitriptyline at night it doesn't help me to sleep though 😓😓😓😓 as it's 5.20 now and I'm only just feeling tired but the restless legs are stopping now so I should be going to sleep shortly,
Hi I know that for me, amytriptyline was the issue. I hate horror movies but that was what my nights were like. I came off all my medication. After some time I was put onto nurotriptyline. I took it for 2 nights and the horrors began. Needless to say I stopped it. For me the side effects are just not worth the small relief of the pain. Best wishes.
I am so sorry to read this. I take Promethazine Hydrochloride at night. I too get really vivid dreams/nightmares. Some wake me up too. I usually take this at 5pm before my supper.I am always exhausted the next morning too. Takes me a while to get up and get on. So much so, I now set 2 alarms; 1 for 7am and 1 for 8am.
Reading the above is interesting, I might try taking this earlier.
I'm on Nortriptyline and I get anxiety dreams. Sometimes the only way I know I've finally fallen asleep is when I wake from an awful dream! Reading above I'm thinking maybe I should take it earlier 🤔. I hope you get your bad dreams sorted. Once again I think what the hell is in these tablets!! 😬 X
Have you thought about taking an interest in these horrid dreams. Acting like a detective looking for and writing down as much detail as you can remember when you wake? Also, self talk yourself so you will remember, when you are dreaming, you can quickly become aware and wake up. Tell yourself, you are in charge?
It's likely you are getting stressed over your fibro and sleeping, wanting to be chipper for work, and that worry usually achieves the opposite?
Also you could go into meditation, at a time you are more relaxed, and ask you subconscious/higher self what the meaning is? Has your subconscious been trying to get a message through? If so, tell it it can stop with the nightmares and you will make a routine of checking in and listening. The fact you have Fibro is an indication you need to pay attention to something. Your body is crying out for some attention?
Is you life happening how you want to to? Are you realising your dreams? Or are you making do? Daily dealing with what keeps being doled out at you? Our body and soul is not so worried about rules and will have plans of their own. They don't want you to get to the end, unrealised.
As the dreams are about personal safety, think about did you service the boiler, attended to the MOT all that stuff? Also is there anyone who you feel is trying to hurt you? Maybe you feel vulnerable because others get annoyed/irritated about your condition? Is it time to talk?
Don't forget to check your meds packet for side effects like Vivid Dreams. Then if that's the cause, ask your doc how long before they settle? Weigh up if the dreams are an acceptable price for any relief?
Between you and your subconscious, you likely have the answers. Once you figure the message, the dreams will resolve.
Do you take Tramadol? The higher dose can cause night terrors. I changed to lower dose 50mg. and terrors stopped but so did pain relief. So I don't take it anymore.
I used to have horrible dreams of being attacked, suffered with it for years, (before I started taking amitriptyline) and no matter how hard I fought back they would not stay down and I couldn't get away. I started taking Valerian Root before bed, I've not had that dream since. If I'm feeling particularly anxious during the day I take half a tablet. It might be worth a try.
Just a note to be cautious about taking valerian root, as many medications clash with this- there is often a specific warning in the patient information leaflet of prescription medicine. If in doubt, check with your pharmacist first! xxx
