Had alot of stress and upset in my life recently and it's caused a massive flare up of my fibro to the point i had to purchase a walking aid as my left leg has gone so stiff i have to drag it along and sometimes not even walking just shuffling! so scared of losing my job as its quite physical and have to on my feet alday and i have explained i wont always like this its just a bad flare up of my condition but if i dont get it under control they will take further action to see if im well enough to do my job! My husband doesnt fully understand and gets frustrated that hes doing everything around the house and trys to support me but finds it difficult as he also has his own issues. im writing this at 5am as its really playing on mind that lm going to carry on getting worse and end up in a wheelchair! Trying to avoid this as it would put a huge strain on my marriage and wouldnt be able to work! Im going back to the doctor's to see if they can up my dose on Naproxen or something to help me mange these bad flare ups? If anyone has any tips on what they do during a flare up would be much appreciated thanks.

Struggling to manage fibro flare ups
Hi, I'm so sorry to hear your having a bad time during a flare up. It can be extra hard to manage during a flare up but keep strong amd you'll get through it. I was on naproxen for 4yrs and it didn't really help woth the pain levels at all. Finally now I am on duloxetine and the pain is more bearable. Id maybe ask your gp for a change of medication as naproxen shouldn't be used long term and doesn't work for everyone. Flare ups for me are still extra painful, but I can manage them with walking aids or other aids to help ease the pain. Please seek advice from your gp and good luck!
Hiya I took naproxen for years but my problem was not eating or takin omperzale and I ended up with helicobacter in my stomach now im lactose intolerance aswell but I got put back on naproxen but I'm on the gastro ones which are lighter on ur stomach just tho I'd give u a heads up. There is gabapatin and pregablin they both help with fibromyalgia. Duloxetine doesn't work for everyone it didn't help me. I also use magnesium salts for muscle stiffness sending gentle hugs.
Poor you, do they not have any less physical jobs that might be better for you? Make adjustments or occupational therapist or something to help you. Good luck
Hi I find that my naproxen helps with the big joint pain esp my knees, but for me the biggest change came from pregablin and esp Duloxetine. They make everyday more manageable so I'm able to cut back on my co codamol and only need to take it if I've over paced myself or I'm stressed and in a flare. For me this combination works but it took losing my job due to my health and having to slow down to actually help make a difference too.
I would definitely discuss options with your GP because a good GP will help find solutions/options.
I hope you find some relief soon.
Sorry to hear your struggling right now to help your flare-ups with muscle pain I do this. Warm baths and rubbing warm oils into my skin. I also use a ten machine which you can wear throughout the day as they are small and you can hind them in your clothes. I also do stretching exercises which will be painful but will ease pain as time goes on. Stretching out the pain does work.
Plus look at the shoes you are wearing best support would he Trainers because they support your muscles plus your Structure of your body.
Ask your employer to see if they can review your breaks due to your fibromyalgia they have to support you and your job capabilities to make life feel more comfortable when you go through a bad flare-ups . Use a walking stick to support your temporary flare-ups less stress on your body.

Oh you poor darling, I so understand your fear of now & future but perhaps dealing with your present & maybe considering another work option is a possibility?
Our flares are so desperate but they DO pass and can sometimes help us to deal with making our lives work for us.
You are clearly strong & able to ask for help....you will get there honey.
My last flare made me re- think differently about what I can realistically do & that I must think about myself more & truly deal with what, who & how my health is impacted.....I felt very empowered.
Thinking of you & hope I've helped.
Big hugs xxxxxx
Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to reply, it means alot and makes me feel less alone in this roller-coaster of a journey through managing a chronic illness! i have been back to my gp but the only thing they could do for me was put me on a higher dose of my Naproxen and recommend a podcast about wellbeing and healthly living!! 😳. going to go down the root of cbd and natural remedies instead and i have heard that acupuncture is good for fibromygia aswell. Thank you for all your kind words and support. 💕
