PIP Done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Now ESA!

Hello all, I just wanted to share my newsโ€ฆ

Had my assessment at the end of January (video call) & a payment from PIP has gone into my bank today to clear tomorrow ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I have no idea atm what my weekly amount will be or if itโ€™s for the daily living/mobility part, Iโ€™ll have to wait for the paperwork to come through, anyone know how long this is likely to take?

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I would say to anybody out there thinking of applying for it, do it!

Just my ESA assessment to do now which is booked for this Thursday (face 2 faceโ€ฆ nervous) and after that Iโ€™m done with these assessments for a while ๐Ÿ˜Š

That's good news. I have just submitted my first pip application and wondered how long it was before you got a date for an assessment.

Hi...I applied online 16th Nov and had telephone assessment 29th Jan (after original date cancelled by them), got a text 7th Feb saying I'd been awarded PIP but a letter to follow explaining award. Money in on Monday 12th but still awaiting letter....Good luck xx

That's great news. I first applied back in May last year and am still waiting for a tribunal date. My area seems terrible for PIP application, I'm so down with it all. I'm down to 4 days a week at work and they're not supportive and believe this is all made up and struggling with PIP. So glad you got yours.

Oh Marieg1270 thatโ€™s so sad to read that your work are unsupportiveโ€ฆ that's the last thing you need when dealing with so much already! PIP is definitely in a league of its own, the whole process is so mentally exhausting and very slow in dealing with claims, I hope you get a date very soon ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป because having this constantly on your mind will be doing your health no favours what so ever. Sending gentle hugs tc

can I ask how did you deal with the claim because you work? I am currently working full time and itโ€™s killing me, am going to apply for pip and hopefully can cut my hours if I get it

Hi, it isn't based on if you work. I know people that are working and receiving PIP. Like yourself I'm really struggling and have had to drop to 4 days. I don't think I did mine right but base everything on your worst day.

This has been done today & have to say that was a doddle compared to the PIP assessment ๐Ÿ˜Š so to any of you out there that have this one to do, donโ€™t be afraid just be yourself & say it how it is ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Hi summertimeshine, just wondering are you working and applied for ESA. I'm thinking of leaving my job due to cfs and fibro which I get pip for standard daily living. What sort of questions do they ask on your esa assessment.? X

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป sorry for the late reply had a funeral yesterday ๐Ÿฅฒ and along with the assessments I was totally wiped out!

I claimed ESA back in October when my SSP finished from my employment (as 6 months had gone by) they checked if I had paid enough NI contributions to see if I was eligible and I had so I was put straight onto the assessment rate and told I would have an assessment to see what group I would be put in! On the 31st January my employment was terminated on the grounds of ill health so I have informed ESA of this and I just need to send my P45 when I receive it.

The form is very similar to PIP just not as many pages! On the assessment day itself I had a lovely lady who only wanted to talk about my fibromyalgia in depth as she said this is the one the decision maker will not really know/understand (I have 4 long life conditions) we only talked very briefly about my other conditions & all in all it took about an hour. She thinks I should get my letter in around 2-4 weeks time.

Well done Summertimeshine, Oooh

Such a lovely feeling,

When mine plopped on the doormat, I was worried they would take my enhanced mobility off me, (kind of get used to having it) Hubby opened it for me, The relief was.... Well relived! That 1 was in 2021 and expires in 2027, So fingers crossed the next 1 will be like my Hubby got,

No future assessment required unless circumstances change,๐Ÿ˜‚

I could have jumped with joy, If I could jump with joy,

I thought they were getting rid of ESA, Well that's what the woman behind the glass said, We were already on it? I think because Hubby started getting his pension, They stopped our housing and council tax and the only way we could continue is if we started claiming UC, And I had to go on his UC

Sneaky bunch of bar stewards! Anyway what's done is done

Well done again, take care Debs

Hi Debs, yes I have also heard about ESA being scraped but Iโ€™m not sure what would happen to me as my husband works full time so we wouldnโ€™t be eligible for UC!

It is lovely like you say when the money drops in the bank & letter on the doormat (I received mine 2 days after I noticed the money in the bank) my PIP award is for 5 years ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป just glad my assessments are done as I felt so consumed by it all, it was so exhausting! Have a nice weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š

ESA comes in 2 forms, Contribution based ESA based on your NI contributions and Income based ESA which is means-tested against income. Both are becoming part of the UC framework, and are called limited capability for work. There is still a NI contribution based payment available as well as an income related component. ESA/limited capability for work payments cease when you start receiving a State Pension.

He was on the contribution based, Then found out I had to move across too,

There was a phone call and we answered some questions (Hubby answers for me, I don't do speaking on the phone or to a stranger, Bloody mental health, anxiety) It was as we found out via letter it was from the DWP๐Ÿ˜ฐ The letter said i was incapable to work, so don't have any more trips to the job centre, (Thank goodness) I am in what they used to call the support group,(not sure if it's still called that still?

I was going to go to a job centre in my power chair, but then thought better of it,

1 less thing to worry about anyway๐Ÿ™‚
