Hello, I've newly been diagnosed with fybro & have just had a back tooth taken out which didn't want to budge.I'm in a lot of pain (far more than i expected) & was wondering if the fybro will affect the pain levels I'm feeling?
Does anyone have any suggestions to help with the pain please?

hi, yes sadly it will, try rinsing with warm salt water, and if you have any pain meds, keep them topped up, the pain may last longer than usual, also try either hot or cold compress, or both alternating.
Also going back if the pain hasn't lessened at all in 2 weeks. I assumed it was fibro but the tooth had shattered and a month later small bits of tooth came out and the pain went. I was told this can happen in 15-20 % of large tooth extractions but was not aware.
Hello Gigi, thankyou for your reply. I'll watch out for that, certainly wasn't an easy extraction as the tooth was broken down to the gum.Sending gentle hugs.
I also not long ago had my wisdom tooth out I felt like a baby I had double the strength on the injection before second try then another pain afterwards I cried my hubby said I wish I could take your pain away to give you a break 😢 me too I said 😁
ive had terrible problems with my teeth, I’ve had to have several removed. Also the injection to numb it only lasts ten minutes. I’ve had to have five injections for one procedure. My dentist isn’t very sympathetic either. He admits it’s most likely because of the fibro I also have peripheral neuropathy and Arthritis in my spine as well.
I do think we are much more sensitive when we have procedures done ,hope it eases off very soon and you have pain relief , sounds like the dentist may have had too work harder on getting the tooth out 🙁x
Hello Yassytina, thankyou for your reply. Yes, I guess we are more sensitive to procedures, thinking about it, even if I stub my toe the pain is overwhelming.Sending gentle hugs.
ive also just had a root canal and been in pain for a couple of weeks, I did go back to the dentist after 4 days and got antibiotics which eventually knocked the pain out. In the meantime I used heat on the outside, alternated ibroprofen and paracetamol every two hours and topped up with Oralagel extra strength topically , hope something helps quickly
Can I just say I’ve had a back tooth out today and mine was the same, it wouldn’t budge. Once the numbness wore off the pain was and is terrible, much worse than I expected, and I’ve had to lie down the whole afternoon. Even the injection sites are unbearable. Im taking Amitryptylline and Tramadol and I’m still getting a headache. I’ve currently got my face on a warm pillow. Thinking back to November 23 and another dentists appointment that also caused agony that I just couldn’t understand and I think it is fibro that’s causing the pain to be so intense. I’d read on a website called foundation education that any pain is felt by us fibro warriors much more intensely, especially dental pain. You can say that again. Sending hugs your way.X
Hello AngelMoon, thankyou for reply & I do hope your pain has lifted a bit. I'm in flareup today as well as the dentristy pain, so as people have suggested; self care, warm wheat bag & pain killers. Sweet Tooth season 3(no pun intended😂) is out on Netflix, so shall snuggle down on my sofa & watch that.Sending gentle hugs🤗
👍🏻 Hope you’re ok today Dreamgreen. I forgot to mention as well that I find something called Gengigel First Aid helps or any of the Gengigel products. They really help with the pain. Today my face has swelled like a hamster on one side🤣
Ooh, thankyou. I've never heard of that.I've just started using Xylitol as a mouth rinse, it's not a painkiller though is supposed to help with gum disease. I really do like to use natural things if possible, I'll give it a go & see if it helps.
I just read FM can make us more sensitive to meds. Dentists have told me Ibuprofen/Motrin not only helps pain, but heals things faster. I have one kidney so I have to manage how much I take, but if it's something you can have. Also, ice can work really well for tooth/jaw pain. Put it in a warm wash rag and place it where it hurts.
I didn't think of a dry socket, but let them fill it with a test strip of iodine, if that's it.
Hello Tjoceans, thankyou for your reply, unfortunately cannot have ibuprofen. Didn't think about an ice pack, I'll give it a go. I have trigeminal neuralgia, which is set off by cold things, however, it is on the other side of my face to the dentistry work.Sending gentle hugs🤗
