neck and shoulder pain
Hi Catty I was only diagnosed with fibromyalgia in Dec, though had symptoms a lot longer.
As well as other symptoms I get my worse stiffness in my neck, shoulders and upper back. I also get a sensation in those areas, not quite tingling or numbness, that I describe as ' fizzy ' It gets worse ( and in lower arms too ) when I am extra tired. Maybe a similar thing? I kind of get a sense of ' oh it's not just me ' when someone else gets similar.
Atm I don't take meds for fibro, just working with it as best I can with lifestyle changes.
Maybe someone more experienced can explain why this sensation happens?
Hi hazelcats this will sound crazy but it’s like there’s actually a small animal crawling under my skin. I’m same as you I’m just taking painkillers as I need them, finding that I can say that I feel quite good and then suddenly it hits me like a tornado.and then I can hardly move for pain. But this sensation is new and I’m not liking it at all.
I’m still working and trying my best to work through any pain but when I get home I’m done in .xx
Oh Catty that sounds a horrible feeling. I'm a bit too new to all this offer real advice or an explanation - hope someone can.The chronic fatigue sides the pits for me. I am fortunate I don't have to work as such, but trying to adjust to working with these symptoms ( and other health stuff ) is hard. I'm just trying to do small steps and changes, but I'm making a lot of mistakes along the way, mostly out of frustration. X
Hello, welcome to our group. I get that feeling often. Especialy after been in the garden. But can feel it even when indoors.
I tend to ignore it and it goes away. I have found that stress and anxiety makes the problem worsre. Certain medication can also cause it too.
From what I understand it's called
Formication it is a symptom where you hallucinate the feeling of insects crawling in, on or under your skin.
If its a big problem for you may I suggest you speak to your GP.
Many people with fibro suffer with the weird feeling but it's not imo specifically a fibro symptom. People without fibro also suffer from it.
I have found from my personal experience like most illnesses fibro related or not. The more you worry the worse something will feel xx

Hello, I don’t experience that sensation but pain in the same area s , I am now trying an extra strong hemp cream (which I asked doctor 1st if okay too use) , it does help , I notice if I miss a soak at night in the bath these pain area s are slightly worse, so epsoms salts or muscle soak Radox is always at hand x
Hi Catty, I find magnesium lotion, spray or oil really helps ease off neck and shoulder pain.
Does absolutely nothing for some people but I swear by it. Great for RLS, leg pain, cramps, I use it everywhere!
Stay away from the gel though if you do try it, it's horrible on the skin. I bought 2 and can't stand it.
Hi cheetiecat thanks for sharing I'm certainly going to give magnesium spray better than taking more tablets
