ADP review advice

hi everyone, I’m new here. And looking for advice about the Scottish adp benefit..

Has anyone had their review yet? .. I’m wondering what happens to your benefit when your due for review.

So for example my review for adp is due October 2024 (I know it’s a while away but I have adhd as well as fibro :( and I need to dysect every single detail and this is tearing me apart with worry) .. so I guess I get my forms / review pack out before my review date, fill them in and send them back .. but by seeing on other posts it’s taking 4-6 months for the review to be completed.

So my question is what happens to your benefit in that time… do you keep receiving it or does it stop until a redetermination is made?

I’m new to all of this and it’s just making me panic. Any advise would be great x

Hi whatsername11

Sorry with being in England I don’t have a clue regarding the Scottish benefits system, but are you able to get an appointment with Citizens Advice to help you complete the form with you, either over the phone or a face2face appointment?

Just to help you cut down your anxiety.

Good luck

I’m ok with the form part,

My partner always does it for me. It’s just the anxiety of what happens to your benefit whilst review is taking place if that makes sense. All the unknown, it’s horrible. Thank you for replying x

I know they always aim to have your forms out a few months before - but it’s seeing a lot of people have sent them back and there review date has been and gone - I just wondered what happens to payments in that case do they just automatically stop? Or just continue until it’s decided if it’s staying the same or increasing etc.

In my experience of the Adp and Pip your payments will automatically continue til a decision is made upon reviewing the completed forms. Best wishes.

Thank you so much xx

Hi, I sent my review back in June and I am still waiting for it to be even looked at. I am still receiving my money and will continue you until the decision has been made.

Same here. It's an absolute scandal it is taking so long.

Are you still receiving your benefit too whilst waiting?

in reply towhatsername11

Yes you still get it until the decision is made. If any part is changed to the higher award it gets backdated

How was the forms to fill in? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you so much for your help x

in reply towhatsername11

I did mine online, and once completed you get a confirmation text to say it has been received. X

I wonder why it’s taking so long :( it’s so stressful all the waiting and unknown. So I take it the benefit is just ongoing at the same amount until decided otherwise - also if you are entitled to more is it backdated do you know?

Yeah, still receiving it until they make a decision.

Thank you so much! How did you find filling in the review forms? .. have they lettered or anything to say there’s a hold up with reviews or just left you. It’s all so confusing x

No problem at all. Review forms were ok. Basically it's just a tick box asking you if anything has changed or not. I filled it out as though I was completing a new application though so I'd given them as much info as possible. I'd heard nothing from them after 5 months so gave them a phone to get an update. Basically they just advised me they have a massive backlog and it will be done when its done.

When did you receive the paperwork, like couple of months before your review was due? .. I always need to try and be as prepared as I can be so this is really helping. Were you a new application or moved over from pip? .. SSS do seem to be a lot fairer, it’s just the waiting times are ridiculously long - but I think the pandemic hasn’t helped with that and maybe not having enough staff. Reviews and all the ins and outs just make me feel incredibly anxious. I’ve seen a couple of people saying they just ticked no change x

Sorry for the late reply. I was moved over from Pip. The paperwork was received around two months before my award was due to end. Although it did advise in the letter my award would continue until a new decision had been made.
