Yes, pip will continue after you retire. If you contact our benefits team, they can explain it all for you

I retire in May and had to fill in an enormous form (not quite as big as original application) in June this year regarding my PIP continuing when I get my State Pension. As yet I have heard nothing.

Me too. I turned 66 in November. My PIP is due to finish Jan 2024. Completed my review form in June. Just keep getting reminders that it will be dealt with and I will still be paid my pip until the review is complete. If you’re still getting pip on retirement age you carry on getting it if your review is successful

yes you will still get pip also enquire about pension credit you may be able to get that also.

I thought PIP changed to attendance allowance after you retire. Does the amount change as well if it’s attendance allowance?

I start training with Citizens Advice tomorrow. So hopefully I’ll have a better idea in a few weeks to help people.

It stays as PIP if you are already claiming. However if you are over pension age when first applying you can only get attendance allowance as PIP is only available for first time applicants up to retirement age. Hope this helps

that is good to know. I’m only in my early 50’s but I’ve been worrying about what will happen when I reach retirement age if my money drops to attendance allowance.

yes they won’t touch pip it’s not means tested so not counted in. As earnings .when you get your pension they’re will be a letter asking you if you may qualify for pension credit you can qualify if you’ve e not got works pension but if you have you might be over the limit for that but you can try if you want they sometimes qualify for small ammount it’s worth trying. But

Hi as others have said your PIP will continue when you reach retirement age, also they have now sent me a letter saying my reviews will be every 10 years as my conditions are most likely to get worse. However I believe that if you get the lower rates and your conditions worsen you cannot get the higher rates. Also because you have PIP the level at which you qualify for Pension Credit is higher than it is if you don't have PIP or Attendance Allowance.

you can phone pension credit and they will do an assessment over the phone pip is not means tested so they don’t count it as. Income it’s if you’ve got high works pension you’ve less chance of getting pip but I always think even if they turn you down you’ve lost nothing even if you only get 50pence pension credit this helps with rent or mortgage council tax glasses a dentist .whith applying for higher rate go to works and benefits or turn 2us they will advise you about higher rate pip.good luck with pension credit .

You can Kenroo, my Hubby retired last year and is still getting P.I.P, It is a pain in the butt,Only because we were on E.S.A. And were (forced) on to Universal credit, We now have to dip in to our P.I.P To make sure all the bills are paid,

The P.I.P is not taken into account, Be careful, We thought we were going to be okay when we had our U.C, They paid us too much and took it back over 6 months, Grr, I hope you don't have any probs.

Take care Debs
