Hi all I have tried to access support from PIP. I’ve made 2 claims but none successful. Has anybody else made a claim and got it?

Thanks Kel xx

Hi there, are you asking have others been awarded PIP for fibro? The answer to that would be many.

But your not awarded PIP for any specific illness. But how that illness effects your ability to look after yourself both physically and mentally on a day to day basis. And like you know fibro can effect some far worse than others. Maybe thats why some get the award and others don't. Some meet the DWP criteria and other don't I'm afraid xx

Momo is right, many are successful in their claims.

Have you tried the on-line assessments to see where you would be likely to gain points. It’s not often what you say on the forms but the way you phrase it. If you feel you are entitled to PIP then maybe get some help from one of the charities to fill in the form. Some charities charge for the service.

I used benefitsandwork.co.uk

Website. You pay a yearly subscription of around £15/16 for a year. Then you will have access to guides and information on how to apply for PIP and other benefits. They also explain how to appeal decisions at tribunal level. It taught me how the process works and how to frame my answers to meet the criteria for gaining points. Understanding the process is invaluable in being able to fill in a successful application. I can’t recommend the site enough. Several friends have used the site as well and have been able to successfully apply for PIP too. Good luck.

As above, Plus If you get invited into office or home visits these days you'll know you are one step closer, I got 11 for daily standard, and higher with mobility I cant remember what the other points, It was enough for higher though

Because when I get stressed or nervous with anxiety, My brain shuts down and I become this big ball of gibberish jelly I write everything down and keep it safe for next time, that way you can look back and add or takeaway any symptoms that you have.

It all depends on the person who's asking you questions I think, (Don't quote me on that one) Also don't get too worried if you get nothing you can ask for a Mandatory reconsideration, They will look at your application again, If still no points, you can apply again I'm not sure how long you have to wait to apply again Try to stay with it maybe go to your local carers centre,

Don't get too bogged down with it or you'll probably get a flare started, Like so many of us have, Good luck My friends Hubby applied six times when the system last changed,

Take care Debs
