Pip for fibromyalgia
Hi there, welcome to our group. It does not matter what illness you have it all depends on how your illness effects you on a day to day basis. If fibro ticks all the boxes you may get pip but it's like any other illness you have to pass their assessment for help.

Hi sorry that you going through these health struggles I do hope you find some relief Thank you for replying do you mind me asking do you get both components of pip? And is it solely for your fibromyalgia thanks
Hi. I was officially diagnosed with fibro last year and in October I was awarded pip for standard care and mobility. I also have anxiety and depression along with the diagnosis but I focused solely on the fibro at the interview because I have really bad trouble with my hands arms and legs with quite severe weakness and pain. My husband has to get me out of the bath and dress my upper half of my body cos I can't put my bra on or lift my arms above my head.
I also have a range of illnesses including Fibro and was receiving pip for several years and dla prior to that. It depends which assessor u get as after my review last year even though the same boxes were ticked as they had been before on previous claims the assessor (atos) wrote a whole host of rubbish including lies (I have evidence but dwp won’t listen) that caused me to loose it all. There is no guarantee for any ailment changing the pip claim and in some instances I think if you have an award in place it may be better to leave well alone because many have lost their payment completely after reassessment. Sadly it’s not a case of how we are affected but sometimes the luck of the draw with who completes the paperwork.
So true. Its a lottery
Yes, I was awarded both rates enhanced two years ago but have just had PIP review so don't know whether I will keep my award. But I had a lot of help. Firstly I am a member of Benefits&Work and followed all the advice in their manuals (many groups, probably in here too, upload their manuals so others can access them for free). Secondly, evidence is hugely important, so get evidence from as many people as you can e.g. GP, any other professionals, carers, family members (written statements from a close family member or friend is fine). Also, you are entitled to a home visit if you find it difficult to get to the centre. You usually need to say this on the form and to get your GP to support you for one but it is your right under the Equality Act 2010 (reasonable adjustments and that included having a home visit). But home visits they are observing you just as much. The guides will mention key words, reliably, repeatedly, safely and in a timely fashion. These are hugely important e.g. if it takes you twice as long to do a task, or you can't complete it, or you attempt it but it causes you pain, distress, fatigue etc, or you can e.g. do something for less than half a week, or only on so many days etc. A good idea to give examples. Hope that helps and good luck x
I agree with Foggy on this post. Benefits and work do an excellent guide for PIP forms. I joined to get PIP . I made notes before even starting on the form. I did have to go for assessment and they are very sneaky.I did retain my high mobility that I had been awarded on DLA. FMAUK benefits advisor is available 2 mornings a week, she is very good.
Hope you get something!
Yes I have been awarded enhanced for both.
I have Fibromyalgia, M.E, Costochrondritis, one etc all conditions related. I had help with my forms from Fightback4justice who are amazing.
The only tip I can give is be truthful always but talk about your worst days not your best as they don't understand how different they can be, also when asked what you can do it doesn't mean once, it means over and over again safely.
Hi
I was Diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year and got awarded enhanced mobility and standard living for pip
Make sure you state clearly how it effects your day to day living and if you struggle with mobility say how far you can walk safely before you have pain or discomfort??
