Hi there, it does not matter what illness you have. It's how your health impacts you on a daily basis. So if you feel you need help and you think you fit their criteria then there is no reason not to apply for PIP.

Hi yes I got it' at first attempt too ! It's not about what condition you have it's about how your condition affects you so be sure to answer the questions whilst thinking about the descriptors and how they apply to you.

Good luck 🤞

Hi I applied and didn’t get it. Same conditions with fibro Arthritis and hearing loss. I work full time . I think if you work you don’t get it, well that’s me reading different blogs etc .

It’s worth a try . It’s all down to how it affects your daily life. Good luck 🤞

it's about how the conditions affects your day to day activity. You may still get pip even if you work.

Hi, i have fibromyalgia and have Oesteoartharitis in my neck, what rate do you get for this? I'm thinking of applying.

dianebrown707 profile image
dianebrown707 in reply toCazza1963

I get the basic rate. I had to finish working last year , I can be really poorly and some days I can't even walk or get out of bed

So sorry to hear that, they should have give you full rate if you can hardly walk, it's not fair for fibro sufferers.

If you can walk the length of a bus they don't give you points for the mobility part of your claim. I also have anxiety and depression which is made worse by all the symptoms of fibro and not being able to work. It gets lonely not working and I feel useless

Don't be silly your not uselesd huni, you've got an illness, kots of people get full pip and they blag the system because there's nothing wrong with them, it's not right, i have depression too, i work 36hrs at the moment although i need to see doctors over pain in my neck, theu took me off Naproxen became i have high blood pressure, so i need something else.

I was on 1800mg of gabapentin and Zapain 4 times a day, I've managed to wean myself off the gabapentin cause its so addictive I'm now amatriptaline at night and my antidepressant was changed to duloxetine as its supposed to help with nerve pain. I don't feel any relief its just rubbish. I hope you get sorted and are given PIP. I don't think people realise how disabling it is my daughter has to come and look after me some days. I can't even change my bedding she does it for me.

hi, I’ve just been successful in my claim for pip I have fibro but also anxiety. After reading the report I feel like I got a lot of my points for my anxiety over fibro. You can see the questions they're asking and answers they’re looking for online with a quick google search and although you may not naturally word some answers in a certain way it’s good to have examples wrote down. Always talk about your worst day rather than your best and they want to know how often you feel that way so at least 4/7 days a week etc. it’s really demoralising the questions they ask so be prepared to put pride out the window. Good luck xxx

Hi, i also have the same conditions along with COPD, slipped disc in neck, heart problems and many more things after catching covid, I worked, I had to reduce my hours and still couldn't get PIP which the citizens advice was helping me with, you have to base it on your worst days, I did finally get awarded enhanced rate, that was because I eventually had a breakdown through attending 5 different hospitals and trying to balance work, I think working does have a massive impact on the decision which is wrong, I'd definitely apply base it on your worst days.I do hope you're successful and if you don't get it first time I got it on my 4th attempt and I believe that's because I live in Scotland, Scotland took charge of their benefit system, they look at your medical records, I didn't get a phone call or attend a meeting, I was awarded.

The advice I would give to you before applying is keep a diary for a few weeks and note on a daily basis what you are having difficulty with and why this can be anything from washing your hair and preparing food. Also include psychological aspects for example not having the motivation to cook or maintain hygiene needs. How fatigue etc affects you. My daughter helps my wife with little things daily and my daughter wrote a letter detailing what she does to help my wife. Evidence does not need to be all professional.

abichesh101, Any one can apply for P.I.P, Not every one will receive P.I.P

Your working, won't been seen in your favour If you can do much of whatever your work tasks are, for instance, If you can do certain simple tasks in your day, You would not nessesarilry (sorry cant spell) get a point on the form for sitting on the tills all day,You are able to concentrate and do the task in hand and repeat that task without causing you to be in pain and discomfort, ( The tills are just an example, Not that till work is an easy type of employment)

can you look after yourself? ie wash your hair? take a bath or shower on your own? Wipe your own butt?

I'm sorry, please don't think I'm being unkind, by asking these questions, I'm not, I believe I'm not too far off getting my halo back soon 😇

But these are some of the questions that will need to be answered, On your worst day,how do you feel? How far can you walk? With or without an aid?It is not an easy process and be prepared for some stress,

I hope your assessment goes smoothly and you get the result you need

Take care

Debs
