I applied for PIP at the beginning of February. Does anyone know how long it takes to get an assessment at the moment? Also are they back to face to face appts or still telephone. Thanks everyone.

hello my mum applied for PIP around 5 months ago and she is still waiting for an assessment unfortunately - they have all her documents but seems to be a backlog x

Thanks, I knew there would be a wait but was hoping it would be a bit quicker than that x

it maybe depends on the area that the PIP assessment form goes to, maybe but not 100% sure. Others on here may know. Hope you find out soon x

At least 6 months

hi Christine W18

I applied back in October and had an assessment in February via telephone if that is any help for time scale for you. Was awarded 0 points, so busy with a mandatory reconsideration at the minute which I should have an answer by the 8th May.

I had a review on my pip and it took 18 months.

Good outcome in the end though.

hi, I applied for review as mine runs out in April. I sent it in October and have been told it could be December before it is sorted ( total of 14 months)

Wow, that's a long time to have to wait.

Hello I myself waiting for review which I filled out with Advisor in November and still waiting only good thing is when you waiting for review you still get existing award until review complete but my last review took over 2yrs as filled out one lot of forms and waited for 20 months then got another new form to fill in I think they lost original as I had paid for doctors letters for support for claim it cost me over £60 but hopefully you will hear soon . Also alot are done over phone or video now as when first had mine had f2f and had to get transport for wheelchair etc

new claims take president over renewables to allow new claimants to receive money and allowing those already claiming to continue. There has been a lot of social media influencing about people’s possible benefits claiming abilities reference to PIP so additional claims have been submitted which the claimant is not eligible but after reading the posts on social media they give it a go and slow the system up. Depending on where you are and the work load it can take 3 to 6 months.

Fingers crossed 🤞 not too long as it's my first application.

I claimed PIP it takes about two months. Bad side of PIP is they don't give you time to gather evidence. I am in the process of taking PIP to a tribunal. Wish you all the best. ❤️❤️

I submitted my claim on 5 Jan and had my telephone assessment yesterday (5 Apr). It lasted for 1 hour 32 mins 😲 and was told that it would take a few weeks before I would hear back from them. I'm in Northern Ireland.

I have applied (new claim) on February 2 and had a phone assessment on March 30.Assessor said that a waiting time for a decision up to 8 weeks. 😬 All process is so stressful.

I am in West Midlands.

Goodluck it is very stressful even for reviews it causes untold stress and worry as I myself and friends had some terrible experience with lies by assessor I would advise to request copie of assessment as they have been known to put total fabrication down I had 30 different things wrong in my first assessment "interrogation "lol goodlu k

Thank you 😊 I have called DWP for copy of assessment, couldn’t get through, line is busy 🤪 will try again on Tuesday.

I had an impression that assessor try to “put words in your mouth”.

Ready to fight anyway, cos I live by myself and expecting a big operation, so will need extra money.

They do and sound sympathetic but put terrible lies in my experience. I had a friend who recently had telephone assessment and they put they didn't sound in pain ?

You can tell I am in pain only when I am laying curled up on the floor, crying 😁All other pain I can masking, so people said "nothing wrong with you" 🙃

Goodluck but my best bit of advice is get copies of the assessment report and also if you get a face2face appointment ask for recording of assessment best of luck with your claim and ops

It has been phone assessment and their leaflet stated that you can ask for audio record. But when I have asked assessor said she has no equipment and I can rebook app. I didn't want more stress from waiting and went without recording 🤷

That's a shame but in future ask for one up front if possible as any recording or proof of what was recorded wrong or missed out on purpose so you lose points I was fortunate that my benefits advisor from harc a charity in my area used to be an assessor for the company who carried out the assessments she got so disappointed with the way genuinely legitimate claimants were denied money due to wording or just not putting all evidence in reports that she started working for harc now if I get reviews and iam able to book her to help me fill out forms it was godsend best wishes happy easter

Just a question, does any one know if you get paid any money from pip while your waiting for a decision when you are a new claimant.

Unfortunately you don't until you get decision but it is backdated to date of application

You can add and upload all evidence online before the assessment and ask for recording. I applied online rather than post

Hi hun. I applied at the start of December. I had my decision by the middle of March. I got my back dated money and my first payment by the end of that month. It takes a while, but, it's worth the wait, you just have to make sure you send as much evidence as possible and names of the professionals who are helping you, as they write to them for their opinion/assessment. Good luck.

I had to send my renewal form back last March, but it was ment to run out March 2023, I got a letter telling me they have extended it till March 2024 as they were behind.

My brother also claims PIP, and he had a telephone assessment yesterday.

I just hope they don't want me to fill another form and send all my covering hospital results again, as its so stressful.
