what are your symptoms, and why do you think you have something other than fibromyalgia? You are right to think outside the fibro box as it’s too easy to assume symptoms are from that, but blood tests do tend to be the obvious first line of enquiry.

I had these symptoms before my diagnosis and they have become worse and gp doesn’t know why. The worst is the thirst and constantly running to the toilet b hope I make as can be very sudden, also pins and needles in hands and feet that now my left one feels numb

I do get a fibro need to go to the loo, a ‘faulty nerve’ , but not attached to thirst or quantity of wee produced. While diabetes might be obvious cause of thirst and frequent urination I presume your Gp has checked HbA1c in bloods, what about vit D checked or b12 ( got results to share?)

A condition such as diabetes would show up on blood tests

Part of getting a diagnoses for fibro is by ruling other things out via a full blood test which I am presuming your GP had done. One of the tests would have been for diabetes and that would have shown up in the results.

Maybe you could ask for a copy of your blood results from your GP to see what tests had been done?

I think the thirst thing could be medication as I have only had that symptom after being put on a lot of meds and I know I am not diabetic as I have accessed the results of my latest blood tests. Of course we mustn't assume any new symptoms are fibro related but I have had some strange symptoms since having fibro and that horrible pins and needles sensation is one of them. You have my sympathy.

Hi hun, I know Fibromyalgia and all it's symptoms are confusing but I can tell you my experience of these so far to attempt to reassure you in some way... Pins and needles.. went to gp, said it was Fibromyalgia although he sent me for nerve conduction test which showed neuropathy in feet and hands. I have had my entire right arm go numb for two weeks, again waa told its Fibromyalgia.

Pain... for me it's aching 24/7. I was prescribed buprenorphine patches because I just couldn't live like this anymore. I started on Tramadol then oxycodone and now these.

Incontinence... Many times I haven't made the toilet, it's as if my brain doesn't tell me I have a full bladder until right at the last moment. My muscles just seem to of died so I have no hope of holding it. I was given a scan and concluded that I have over reactive bladder syndrome.

It's very important that you get any new symptoms checked. Blood tests rule out most things.

I have diabetes and your symptoms could suggest you have it however if your bloods are ok and urine test not showing sugar then it's not diabetes.

It's very difficult when I have pain because I honestly don't know if it's my fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis or neuropathy that's causing it.

I'm similar - FM, OA, several spinal compression fractures, and two rare blood cancers. The FM and cancers can both make one fatigued. When asked re blood cancer "What are your symptoms"? I just don't know. I don't know whether pain is due to OA or FM or even the MDS/MPN; I don't know whether I'm fatigued because of FM or MDS or MPN or even that the compression fractures cause me so much pain whenever I do anything, that this is the cause. I don't think we can separate our illnesses or be expected to. The questioning may be wrong - all ticking boxes.

I’m reading the helpful replies you have had from people today, i am hoping the doctor has given you some blood tests recently or you have got an appointment to be checked again if you feel something else is going on apart from fibro symptoms, best too have a piece of mind x

thank you all for sharing , it’s hard to get appointment and they don’t answer my questions and then I stress out more which leads to low mood. I take comfort in having good support systems and a lot of FM chat groups where people have suggested helpful techniques that I trying and keeping a symptom diary was suggested so doing that
