Unfortunately it can take anything from 2-12 weeks to get your decision letter as already mentioned, but, if awarded, money may go into your bank account a few days before you receive the letter.

they say up to 8 weeks, but, I had mine about 3 weeks ago, they wrote to me last week with their decision, they ignored every single word i put on the form, they also did this with the previous form as well, they said that my condition had NOT changed since my last assessment, when in fact, i had a bad reaction to the covid vaccine which has left me only being able to do approx 20mins a day of normal daily activity, they also state that my condition has NOT got worse because i am 'only on minimal medication', i am on norytriptaline, naproxin paraceatamol and co codamol, i also have something starting with poly something for vertigo, because i cant take medication as i have bad reactions to it. they state that i dont need any aids (walking sticks) because the walking sticks i have i bought myself, and they were NOT PRESCRIBED by a doctor, my gp sent me to a physio who gave me one walking stick as that was all she had at the time and told me to buy another as i needed 2.

they also state that i can walk 50m ok, i can walk about 10m before i am in serious pain from my back and hip problem

this is the second time they have ignored every word i put on the form, which i filled in truthfully.

just wondering how many people have a walking stick PRESCRIBED by a doctor?

if you havent had your assessment yet, they usually ask you something that will sound quite innocent, be careful of how you answer, in my case they asked me 'how i fed my cats', because usually cats are fed on the floor and you have to bend to feed them, and they were trying to catch me out, because of my back and hip i feed 2 of them on the work surface and 1 on the floor, i have to drop the food into the dish on the floor, and just hope it lands in the dish, any that lands on the floor i have a long handled dust pan and brush to get it up.

a few years ago i had to go to appeal following one of these assessments, the woman there was clearly against me and she asked how i managed to change the cat tray, i told her i had to wait for somebody to come to the house and get them to do it for me

they may make you feel as if they are on your side, they are not, just remember, they are paid by the DWP and work for them and their best interests not yours

Iv just had my pip assessment reply and because can walk for fifteen minutes and prepare a meal I wasn't entitled no matter what pain I have

Hi Amozan

i had mine back last week, they keep stating that i can walk over 50m or even longer, i can walk about 10m before the pain is really bad, they ignored every word i put on my form and have done so with the previous one as well. this makes a complete mockery of filling in the form in the first place, they basically called me a liar, and what i put on the forms was truthful.

i cant stand to prepare a meal, because of the pain in my back, hips, arms and hands, i frequently cut myself when chopping things, i cant stand to cook, i can only stand for a few minutes before the pain in my back is so bad i have to sit or quite often lie down. preparing and cooking a meal that should take no longer that 30 - 40 minutes can take me 3 hours, i frequently burn myself getting things out of the oven or drop things because my hands go into spasym, they state that i can prepare and cook a meal at least twice a week.

i had a bad reaction to the covid vaccine which has left me only being able to do approximately 20 minutes a DAY of normal daily activity. this has been totally ignored and they claim that my condition has NOT changed since my last assessment in 2018, pre covid.

they asked me about bathing and did i have a bath. i told them that i had to have the bath taken out and a shower put in because of the back and hip problem, they then asked did i do this myself or did somebody tell me to have it done. they asked if i had any grab rails, i said i had one put in the shower when i had that done, they asked if this was prescribed by a doctor or did i do it myself. dont know how many doctors PRESCRIBE putting grab rails in!

they asked me what other aids i had, i said walking sticks, they asked if i bought these myself or were they PRESCRIBED by a doctor. my gp sent me to a physio who said i need them, she gave me 1, that was all she had at the time, and i bought another, the DWP state that because my walking sticks were NOT PRESCRIBED by a doctor and that because i bought them myself, that they are basically NOT essential aids that i need and were ignored as well.

they also claim that i am only on basic medication so my condition has not changed. I have reactions to so many medications that i cant take them, in 2016 i had a lignocaine infusion at the pain management clinic which i had a very bad reaction to, and for several weeks couldnt sit or stand up. this left me only able to do 10 minutes a day of normal daily activity, it took me from 2016 until march 2020 to get that up to two and a half hours a day, then i had the vaccine and my chronic fatigue went off the scale and i am now only able to do approx 20 minutes a day of normal daily activity, and not all in one go, after that i have to sit or more often than not lie down for the rest of the day, or for several days following it, that is 3 years now and i have not improved. yet they say my condition has not changed since my last assessment in 2018.

these are just a few of the remarks they made

Sorry you weren’t successful in your application neither was I. However as I can now access my medical records through My GP app I had a look what they put on my application, well I discovered not a lot!

Next time will need to discuss more with my GP.

Also now try and go to the same GP, on most occasions.

If it’s not to stressful for you appeal the decision there are lots of organisations to support you. Which I wasn’t aware of until joining health-unlocked.

All the best

Hi Tilly, in my case it was 6 weeks. Please, please find a way of recording your interview because the assessor in my case wrote inaccurate information, (lies) on 80% of the questions, completely disregarded my reported fibromyalgia symptoms and brushed over my psychological symptoms. All the best.
