Itching
Hi i get alot of itching on my legs drives me mad in the end i take an antihistamine .
I get a lot of itching, and it can be practically anywhere or everywhere on my body. I have been prescribed Dermol Cream by my GP to use as a soap substitute, which helps but still get the itching every now and then, it drives me nuts some days.
It's awful
Yes to the point I could shred my skin sometimes. Drives me nuts. It's everywhere. I take antihistamines daily as this cuts it down abit but it's always there.
yes. It some very odd places too!
It’s worse when I’m too hot but at it’s worse when I’m anxious. I could literally rip my skin off sometimes and get blisters where I’ve rubbed my hands together so hard.
I take antihistamine sometimes 2 different sorts together! Ceterizine and loratadine. When it’s at its worse I also put on an after bite cream as it contains low dose hydrocortisone which calms it down and most days I put on E45 anti itch cream which helps a bit and stops the skin from cracking and breaking. Try to use plain shower gels, I use sanex but it never totally goes away 😢
Hope some of these work for you x
Yes I get awful itching, especially my feet. I take an antihistamine every day and it mainly stops it.
I get severe itching - feels like I want to scratch my skin off sometimes. Nothing visible - no spots, rash or dermatitis. A doctor at my surgery specialises in skin complaints & said it was a problem with the nerve endings. She recommended: 1% Menthol Cream (mine is Arjun which I get on prescription but it may be available over the counter at pharmacy) it helps cool and calm skin/nerve endings. Really helps me. Apply loads & massage in when itchy.
Applying something cool to the area eg bag of frozen peas wrapped in towel.
If you really can't stop scratching gently slap the area instead as this avoids damaging the skin.
May be worth a try.
Hi ...I get really horrible itching all over....But worse when my head starts...it burns and itchesThe only ease i get is my head under a shower.....it is set off by draughts.....too hot.....too cold....stress...No Win.....
Have you tried taking magnesium? Check which forms are the best for absorption and don't cause digestive problems e.g. Mg Glycinate, Mg Malate, Mg Citrate (ok if you need something to help with constipation), Mg Taurate, Mg L-threonate, Mg Orotate. Avoid Mg Oxide, hydroxide, aspartate & gluconate.
I was prescribed amitriptyline for my itching down my arms and neck an itchy you can’t scratch so a nerve ,so frustrating. Amitriptyline worked for me, however if prescribed best to take at 7 pm due to it knocking you out and feeling groggy in the morning
I have just learned that the antihistamine in fish makes my itching much worse. Its worth looking at .I believe I read that bicarbonate of soda can help if you take it as soon as you notice the itching. Sadly I had forgotten this info so cannot say if it is an answer
I’m almost always itchy somewhere! I get rashes on the surface triggered by stress or the sun. I also feel like my body is always on the verge of getting ‘set off’. I can squeeze a handle too hard, or walk on a rough surface, and it sets off a deep intense itch with no rash, that I can only relieve by running under very hot water (which I was told not to do, actually). The antihistamine I was prescribed gives my stomach some issues, so I don’t take it but the topical creams work for the rashes I get. Seeing a professional can help!
Hi Amberrose67, yes, I get severe itching especially my legs. I scratch them until they bleed. They always look a mess. Embarrassing because I like to swim. Haven't found a cure unfortunately. All the best Elaine 🕊️
Yes, I get terrible itching and it drives me crazy! My skin is red raw sometimes. When I mentioned it to the doctor he just said, "Well, don't scratch it and it won't get sore". I told him it was impossible NOT to scratch but he just insisted it wasn't hard at all, "Just don't scratch". Arghh!! Needless to say, I don't see that doctor anymore.....
Yes, and not just itching, general skin irritations anywhere on the body! Sometimes can't even sit still!
I can control it by making myself hot, try putting a hot water bottle on it
I get awful itching at times especially on my back which frustratingly can't get to easily! I use a soap substitute, E45 cream..all for extra moisture, which helps. Plus when intolerable I use Eurax cream...brilliant for stopping itching fast!
