Fibro and Those around me
I describe it as a chronic health condition where the main symptoms are chronic pain, fatigue and cognitive /memory problems. I might also add that it's a central nervous system disorder depending who I'm talking to

I gave up trying to explain years ago, now l just tell people l will forward them a link. So google up an article on fibro that describes the symptoms well, that is straightforward and easy to digest, send them the link and let them read it for themselves. If they are interested they will, if they are not really interested they won't. And you can save your energy for better things.
Hi. I found the spoons theory really useful to explain the exhaustion to people. Also Dr Ivan Ramos Gálvez at the circle hospital Reading has a great video on their web site. My personal favourite expression is “pain for the sake of it”. Good luck.
Hello Ellie I find that as soon as I mention fibromyalgia people stop listening and I give up. Nobody seems to understand the daily pain we go through as we 'look ok'. Each day can be so different. I was so happy when I got my diagnosis as I felt like someone had actually listened to me. I've had fibro for prob nearly 20 years but now I'm on the correct type of meds.
Thank you all for your help
