CBD oil for Pain

Hi,

After being finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 2 years ago, I have tried the meds my doctor has suggested, apart from feeling like a zombie, putting weight on which I really don't need!and swelling feet and ankles,I'm now being told to take paracetamol when in pain and carry on with tramadol for my osteoarthritis knee pain.

its got to the stage now where I can't even stand for a minute without having to find somewhere to sit or lean on, walking is so painful the pain I get starting from my back and all the way into my shoulders and neck, then the fatigue kicks in and nothing at all helps.

I'm wondering wether to try CBD oil drops,I've spent days researching which are reputable companies.....has anyone fellow suffers tried this and any success?

Cbd does not work for everyone, and like everything else it can be trial and error to find a brand /dose that works for you

I use it personally as oil and tea, and it does help to take edge off along with my medication - but it's not the magic cure that a lot of suppliers make it out to be (and you can end up paying a lot for poor quality products)

Hi Hirty - I don't have fibro, but do have generalised osteoarthrosis due to my hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (& neurological issues).

I've been using CBD drops for 3 years, which I've found seem to help my joint issues in dampening them down, but not my neurological issues which are worse.

I'd be happy to let you know where I've bought these from; a company which provides lab certified results so you know they're a reputable company, & also most reasonably priced.

Have to also agree with Hazel that it's not something that works for every one, but importantly you should always discuss taking CBD oil with your pharmacist/GP as CBD oil is broken down in the same place in your liver as over 90% of most prescribed meds. If this is the case, then a 4 hour gap between taking CBD oil & prescribed meds is warranted for safety.

CBD oil should be started in a 'low & slow' fashion despite the pain you feel. Some kinds of CBD have a better content that helps with pain too.

Always buy from a supplier that gives lab certified results so you know the exact content of CBD & which should only have a content of less than 0.2 % of THC to be legally sold in the UK.

No, it's not a cure all, & should not be sold with any medical claims, but it 'may' help some if taken with appropriate care.

Didn't work for me and cost about £25/£30 every 10 days so too expensive for me too.

Hello, sorry to read of your pain, my doc referred me to physio and they showed me some knee exercises, my knee is past key hole and one day will require knee replacement, I have arthritis which can be very painful and walking just in general can make my knee very sore. I try keep moving and take mini breaks during the day as I have CFS along with my fibro so I understand the fatigue, my stomach won’t tolerate pain killers for too long, I do find a soak in the bath very helpful and do use bio freeze some days, never easy is it , I’ve read with interest replies about the Cbd oil. Take care.

it all depends where you buy CBD oil from (but always do so with lab certified results). It also depends on what strength you use (a person should ideally start with a strength of only 2-2.5% of CBD oil).

The CBD I've been using costs me about £46, yet this lasts me about 3 months. I buy 2x 30 ml bottles as anything over £40 is delivered free (delivery below £40 is only £2.99 however). Usage also depends on how many drops you find to be optimal. I use 3 x 4 drops a day, but some will need less than this; some more.

Sorry you are struggling everything you wrote sounds like me unfortunately. I have tried cbd and it helped a bit but not enough to come off of any of my pain meds and it is very expensive. The government and doctors need to look at legal cbd for fibromyalgia and osteo and other arthritis then maybe we can have some sort of life without struggling. I hope you find something to ease your pain

Hi HirtyI would encourage you to research LDN (low dose naltrexone) for fibromyalgia (ldnresearchtrust.org is one website to look at). There are facebook groups for LDN as well. It is given in low doses of between .5 and 5 milligrams, doesn't interact with any other medication except opioids if taken close together. So many people have had wonderful relief while using it. I take it and it makes a big difference to pain levels.

Hope this helps

Hi Afib57, I've done some research on LDN previously, can I ask do you live and get it prescribed in the UK? Thanks

I live in Australia. I did my research after my specialist rheumatologist suggested using it and took it to my GP who now has prescribed it to other patients to great success. It needs to be made up at a Compounding pharmacy.

This is another option - P.E.A. (Palmitoylethanolamide) is a compounded treatment option for chronic pain, recommended by pain specialists and clinics throughout Australia.
