Diagnosis

I am yet to get a fibromyalgia diagnosis as I still cannot get to speak to a doctor. I have been under a specialist for couple years for my shoulder pain and he did write to my doctor asking if blood tests could be carried out for arthritis which came back fine. After my latest appointment in December my specialist had a good talk with me and believes all my pains are due to fibromyalgia. He has written again on my behalf to my doctor asking if investigations could go down that route for me after I explained to him how the pain is throughout my whole body . As of today I still havnt got through to my doctor and the meds I take are naproxen for past 12 years and oh my doctor did suggest a daily dose of glucosamine tablet a couple of months ago when I managed a return phone call. Frustrated as on a good day I feel like I've got a bad dose of flu anyway. I feel that no one understands and nobody believes your jn pain.

I feel like you. Nobody seems to be taking me seriously either. I've had the pain for 6 months & every day is different, but it's still there in varying degrees. I'm hoping I'll get a referral sometime soon, but who knows. With current problems with NHS, that could be months away at the very least. I know it's not life threatening, but when you're in pain, it's hard. Can you do an online e-consult? That way it's in writing. Mind you our e-consult forms are very tedious.

Hi thank you for your comment. I hadn't heard of an e-consult so I will now look into this. It helps me to now know I'm not on my own hearing from others like yourself thank you.

I am very sorry to read this especially after your consultant has written on your behalf already, could you see one of the practioner nurses at your surgery, I find they do get things moving and give the doctor/doctors an update of the appointment, they seem to have more time to listen in detail and can do a lot of the thing s a doctor can do , even referrals , being in constant pain is horrid, ring your surgery and be firm, say this has gone on fast too long 🙁let us know how you get on xx

Thank you I will try down the route of trying to see a nurse first perhaps.
