Hi, both my shoulders and upper arms feel very heavy that I can't carry a shopping basket sometimes. They feel heavy when I lift my arms too

Yes I get that too with chronic pain in between my shoulder blades....every day is the same and I have now had to give up work as been signed off since January last year. I applied for PIP but was turned down in October so have appealed and am still waiting to hear. I struggle with daily needs like bathroom needs and getting dressed and basically everything that a mum and partner do. My anxiety, depression and stress levels have gone through the roof and I just don't know what to do. There is not one part of my body that does not hurt. Its the same every single day. Now I am applying for a blue badge as when I need to go out I have to park as far away from another parked car as need the space to get in and out. Let's all just hope and πŸ™ that tomorrow will be a better day xx

Very much so especially in the winter , the heaviness felt like a dragon had landed on my shoulders and dug in its talons. At one time I had another pain condition that made this much worse , but even after that complaint was sorted out the Fibro pain in the neck and shoulders is one of my worst symptoms . It gets worse if I have pain, stress and fatigue elsewhere too. It sometimes brings on headaches for me.

If its not too personal , did you have to stop wearing a bra because it added to the pain in the shoulders or because the bra caused symptoms elsewhere?

I had times I needed to do this but it eventually made the pain worse because the lack of support to the chest added a greater burden on my shoulders and back.

I eventually started using those soft bra tops and it helped reduce the pain when I couldn't wear a high support bra.

I use fabric sports bras more often now instead of ones with thin straps and that stops the little straps digging into my pain points , I can still use them when my shoulders hurt and the heavy , burning pain isn't as bad as before.

I've also used a back and shoulder posture corrector strap from time to time when the heavy pain was very bad and it did help reduce the pain for me , but that was because I noticed that I was scrunching up and tensing my back and shoulders when I had the pain which gave some immediate relief but ended up making the pain worse.

Have you tried using a warm clay or wheat bag across your shoulders for relief?

I find heat better than ice for the heavy pain.

I usually need the odd dose of a paracetamol when its really bad too.

Hi πŸ‘‹Yes, I'm suffering with it in my right shoulder now. Had it since I wrapped up my Xmas gifts! Dangerous sport that, obviously! πŸ˜‚

Am already on Sulfasalazine x 6 daily, Oramorph liquid and fentanyl patches, but they don't even touch the pain I'm in generally. Been taking paracetamol & ibuprofen regularly too, but not much improvement yet!

My shoulders degraded into severe pain writing my Christmas cards. Holding a pen is agony so despite typing+printing my message at the beginning of December, my cards never went out until 24th!!!

Pen, scissors, paintbrush, knife all make my hand uncomfortable and that transfers up to my shoulders dreadfully...

living in this constant pain means I cannot pursue my art activities anymore or even prepare my food. I've resorted to buying chopped carrots, grated cheese, pre-cut fruit, sliced bread and so many more 'easy' foods to try and keep a balanced diet.

I'd always wondered who bought these products in the past???

It's far more expensive but essential to keep our independence and continue to eat healthily.

My shoulders have still not recovered yet on as there's a minimum that we have to do to move and function. No sort of resting can prevent shoulders continuing to hurt as they're used in almost every action...

No hair management or make up possible now and even getting dressed is painful so I rarely bother!

Me and my dressing gown are a united front!!!

Have you tried a wheat bag in the microwave as sits nicely around that area for comfort, yes differently trying a softer type bra and go for a fitting if you can, so many women experience discomfort wearing the wrong size /fitting of a bra, I can say this as I was surprised myself on a recent visit. I read it’s so much better for your posture as well if you can wear a correct fitting when it comes to bra s , just a thought and advice I was given xx
